Zicam, Schmicam, lol. - J Res Med Sci. 2013 Feb; 18(2): 144–157. Zinc and its importance for human health: An integrative review _zinc deficiency in humans is now known to be an important malnutrition problem world-wide. _there is some evidence that the efficiency of zinc absorption may decrease with age.[53] https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3724376/ _Keywords: Zinc absorption, zinc bio-availability, zinc deficiency, zinc intervention, zinc nutrition, zinc requirement _The diet may not necessarily be low in zinc, but its bio-availability plays a major role in its absorption. _In this paper, we provide a review on zinc biochemical and physiological functions, metabolism including, absorption, excretion, and homeostasis, zinc bio-availability (inhibitors and enhancers), human requirement, groups at high-risk, consequences and causes of zinc deficiency, evaluation of zinc status, and prevention strategies of zinc deficiency. _Serum zinc concentrations are reduced during acute infections and inflammation, which is likely due to the redistribution of zinc from the plasma to the liver;[74] cytokines released during the acute phase response activate hepatic MT synthesis,[75] a metal-binding protein which appears to alter the hepatic uptake of zinc.[76] Elevated concentrations of C-reactive protein or other markers of the acute phase response can be used to indicate the presence of infection and should be considered in the interpretation of results. Stress and myocardial infarction also reduce serum zinc levels.[77] _Supplementation programs are useful for targeting vulnerable population subgroups, which are at a particular high-risk of micronutrient deficiencies. The easiest way to supplement zinc could be to include it in programs already delivering daily or weekly nutrient supplements for the prevention of iron deficiency anemia and other micronutrient deficiencies. The recommended zinc dosages are 5 mg/day for children between 7 months and 3 years and 10 mg/day for older children.[48,57] When formulating multi-nutrient supplements, it is recommended that salts providing readily absorbable zinc, like ZnSO4, zinc gluconate or zinc acetate are used because they are absorbed more efficiently.[11]
This study provides the first in vivo evidence that zinc sulfate in combination with hydroxychloroquine may play a role in therapeutic management for COVID-19. https://elitetrader.com/et/threads/...if-widely-deployed.347870/page-7#post-5166653
See below No. 1 night for the fever, and 10-11 days for the cough/phlegm/sinus discharge. Horrible deep cough exacerbated by a very dry throat (Halls drops BARELY worked), and tremendous amount of sinus fluid discharge. Blocked Eustachian tube for 3 months, effectively deaf in one ear for about 6 weeks. No. ~12 bux for the 3 months of daily Flonase nasal spritzes. Hypertension Not even close Mononucleosis as a young kid. Don't know, don't care. Wear a mask, use hand sanitizer, and wash hands when you get home. Easy peasy. Neither. It was like having a really bad flu. P.S. I just want to mention that on that very first night, when I had the very first symptom (fever and body chills), I did the Zicam deal. It is supposed to shorten the duration of a cold by a couple days. Well, it didn't work. I'm just glad I did not lose my sense of smell from using it, which is a reason it was recalled some years back (I looked the thing up after using it, on recommendation from a friend who did not know better.) Why they let it back on the shelves I do not know.
Ohhhh, that don't sound good. You must feel fantastic in comparison. Sounds like what Schroyer came down with. He used some of the exact same words like Really Bad Flu.
