Research shows there is a direct link between being infected with Covid-19 and heart problems. This is why it is best to avoid infection. Those pushing "getting infected" to get "natural immunity" are actually spinning a roulette wheel for acquiring long term medical issues.

Scientists identify how the coronavirus spike protein causes heart damage
New research has uncovered "direct evidence that the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein is toxic to heart muscle cells," according to its lead author.
    https://news.sky.com/story/scientis...us-spike-protein-causes-heart-damage-12658815

Scientists believe they have identified why heart damage is so common among patients hospitalised with COVID-19 in a preliminary study.

The new research has found that the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus spike protein is capable of causing heart muscle injury through the inflammatory process, setting it apart from previously known coronaviruses.

The good news is that the preliminary research suggests the damage caused by the process, which is part of the heart muscle cells' "own natural immune machinery" can be reduced by vaccination.

Research published in 2020 discovered abnormal changes to the way the heart was pumping in 55% of hospitalised patients, with around one in seven showing evidence of severe dysfunction.

"It's already known from the clinical side that COVID-19 infection can induce heart injury, however, what we don't know is the mechanistic details of how this occurs," said Dr Zhiqiang Lin.

The first line of defence against the invasion of the SARS-CoV-2 pathogen is natural immunity, and heart muscle cells have their own immune machinery - but in the case of COVID-19 infections the immune response "may also impair heart muscle cell function and even lead to cell death and heart failure," Dr Lin said.

They studied another coronavirus known as HCoV-NL63 which has a similar spike protein that also binds to the cell receptor ACE2 to help the virus break into cells.

But unlike with SARS-CoV-2, the NL63 spike protein does not trigger the natural immune response in heart muscle cells which can cause so much damage to the organ.

"What we suspect is that the spike protein has unknown pathological roles," added Dr Lin, the study's lead author and an assistant professor at the Masonic Medical Research Institute in Utica, New York.

"Our data show that the spike protein from SARS-CoV-2 causes heart muscle damage. That's why it's important to get vaccinated and prevent this disease," added Dr Lin.

"The fact that the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein is activating the natural immune response may explain the high virulence compared to the other coronaviruses," Dr Lin said.

During laboratory testing of heart cells that had been cultured in dishes, the researchers observed how the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein made heart muscle cells much larger compared to cells without either spike protein.

"We found direct evidence that the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein is toxic to heart muscle cells," explained Dr Lin.

But the researchers caution that the mechanisms they detected for how the virus causes damage may not be the entire picture - and that there are more questions to be answered.

I talked about this before when they made those "rapid home test kits" available to the public mass.

In addition, I stated it will be one of the primary reasons why Covid will continue surging with every new sub-variant because the government doesn't know where the problem areas are located to be able to provide resources to those states, counties, or cities until it is too late.

The below is a no-brainer considering the "rapid home test kits" are confusing the Covid picture considering most positive tests go unreported. Simply, whatever numbers we know about Covid... it's much worst and it will disable our ability to get ahead of it for proper health policies.

    ----------

"We're also hoping to link these policy data with actual health datasets to try to understand how variation in policies affected outcomes like COVID transmission rates, but also related outcomes like mental health, chronic disease, etc.,"

    ----------

The rapid at-home tests are essentially telling people to be their own Doctors and we all know most people do a poor job of being their own Doctors...physically and mentally.

I'm currently traveling a lot in the U.S. to different Universities. I easily see why and how Covid is able to spread so easily. It's mindboggling...its as if most people want Covid to stay here.

In fact, it's no longer a political issue...everybody regardless of political belief are essentially saying face masks are not needed when indoors in crowded areas that are not well ventilated. The offending locations are where travelers tend to be (e.g. lobbies of hotels, airports, restaurants, public bathrooms et cetera).

Recently, I was visiting a friend that has a condo @ Trump Tower. Got on a crowded elevator...my son and I was the only ones with face mask on. Yet, more shocking, some of the elderly people on the elevator didn't have face masks on. I even overheard a worker telling another person (resident) that he had Covid three times and the prior infection caused him to miss work for almost two months...he seemed to be bragging...

Then he begin coughing a little. :(

triple vaxxed here, tested +'ve this AM. Started having some nasal/throat irritation yesterday, congestion, headache, slight fever, some shivers last night, tiny bit of chest pain. No worse than a mild rhinovirus so far. I think that's going to be the worst of it, milder than 1st vax symptoms IMO.

For all the clowns pushing "natural immunity" nonsense. Once again, another study shows there is NO natural immunity with Omicron. None whatsoever for the most part.

Omicron infection cannot improve your COVID-19 immunity
    https://knowridge.com/2022/08/omicron-infection-cannot-improve-your-covid-19-immunity/

In a recent study from Imperial College London, scientists found that people infected with the omicron variant show poor immune boosting against future SARS-CoV-2 infection.

In the study, the team looked at why there are so many omicron breakthrough infections, even among people who have been triple vaccinated; how this is affected by previous infection history; and whether omicron infection at least offers a ‘natural booster’ of COVID-19 immunity.

A common assumption of the COVID-19 pandemic has been that through being infected with the virus you gain a natural immune boost, leaving you better able to recognize the variant you’ve encountered and fend off infection in the future.

However, this study finds that omicron provides a poor natural boost of COVID-19 immunity against re-infection with omicron itself even in people who are triple-vaccinated.

In those who were triple vaccinated and had no prior SARS-CoV-2 infection, omicron infection provided an immune boost against previous variants (Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta and the original ancestral strain), but less so against omicron itself.

Those infected during the first wave of the pandemic and then again later with omicron lacked any boosting.

These findings may help to explain why ‘breakthrough’ and repeat infections have been a common feature of the omicron wave of the pandemic.

However, the researchers stress that vaccination continues to provide protection against severe disease and death.

It has been argued that even if antibody recognition of omicron is poor, T cell immunity may be ready to fill the gap to achieve effective protection.

However, the study showed poorer recognition of omicron spike antigen by T cells in those who had been omicron infected.

Getting infected with omicron does not provide a potent boost to immunity against re-infection with omicron in the future.

The team says previous SARS-CoV-2 infection impacts the ability to boost immunity against subsequent SARS-CoV-2 infection through a process called ‘immune imprinting’, and this may apply to sub-variants of omicron including BA.4 and BA.5.

If you care about COVID, please read studies about blood sugar meter that could soon tell if you have COVID-19 antibodies, and Kidney injury from COVID-19 may be twice as common as diagnosed.

For more information about COVID, please see recent studies about how COVID-19 is linked to diabetes, and results showing weight loss drugs may help stop COVID-19.

The research is published in the journal Science and was conducted by Professor Rosemary Boyton et al.

Earlier public health agencies recommended a 5 day rather than a 10 day period of self-isolation for Covid. This was driven by a belief that the majority of the Covid cases were no longer infectious after 5 days and therefore it was worth risk (from a big picture perspective) to reduce the isolation period to 5 days in order to get economies moving by returning people to the workplace sooner after infections.

Unfortunately follow-up analysis over a long period of time has shown the 5 day period has not worked out well and a significant number of people are still infectious after 5 days. Therefore the isolation period should be reverted back to 10 days.

Most people with covid-19 are still infectious after five days
A comprehensive study has revealed that two-thirds of people with covid-19 are still infectious five days after symptoms begin, calling into question self-isolation advice

Scientists call for return of 10-day Covid self-isolation to protect NHS this winter
Legally enforced self-isolation periods have now been scrapped and NHS guidance is to do so for just five days after testing positive. That is despite infection rates still running relatively high
