Just to be clear -- I do not support Gottlieb's assertion that the Pfizer pill marks the end of the pandemic and that the pandemic is ending this year.

Of course not, how else are we to derive pleasure from the force suffering of others.

Hospitals are gearing up for the Covid winter storm that's coming...some of those Covid patients admitted with be former medical staff that refuse to be vaccinated. The holiday season, international air travel, borders open with many people entering under exempted status, private jets...

I see a major fuck up and those not vaccinated will bear the brunt of it.

The stupidity is amazing...many pharmacies no longer sell face mask wear. I've had a few tell me its because they believe the end to the Pandemic is near and that its time to get back to normal.

Most likely it's a supply chain issue. Yet, I'm glad I still have many boxes of face masks purchased a few months ago for my family and me even though we're all vaccinated.

Prior Pandemics only had to deal with the health crisis and politics. In contrast, the Covid Pandemic has to deal with the health crisis, politics, and social media misinformation / disinformation.

I derive no pleasure in the pandemic not ending.

The only people who appear to be deriving pleasure from the pandemic not ending are the anti-vaxxers who are causing the pandemic to continue long into the future. Many anti-vaxxers are merely pushing their agenda along with Covid misinformation to score political points.

Unfortunately Goodlieb's assertion does not hold true when looking at the facts. The Pfizer drug is not a game changer for ending the pandemic - it does not stop the spread of the disease. Until the vaccination rate greatly increases we will be living in a environment over the next year or more where the pandemic is present at "pandemic levels' -- with many deaths, hospitalizations and cases (mainly with the unvaccinated) with widespread misery, more restrictions, and lockdowns due to the continued high prevalence of Covid. And things could get worse as new variants develop in the unvaccinated which are more infectious, more vaccine-evasive, and/or more deadly.

It took about 12 years after the FLU vaccine was globally used for the world to begin to normalize.

They had a big advantage back in those days. There were no social media to allow fast spread of FLU misinformation/disinformation, the main route of commercial travel was ships (not planes) and they had the overwhelming support of the healthcare system, unlike today.

Too much crap was allowed to occur in 2020. It's going to stink for many years due to the Covidiots fighting to the very end.

Welcome to 2021 -- where now the deaths in red counties are 3 times those in blue counties. Whether you count deaths per 100,000 or total deaths -- red counties are a fiasco. Here is a hint - red counties can avoid this problem with vaccination.

U.S. Covid Deaths Get Even Redder
The partisan gap in Covid’s death toll has grown faster over the past month than at any previous point.

New York could have killed less nursing home residents if they weren't stupid
Starting from today the next 3 months will probably see more deaths in the Blue states then Red states

So its trends.....To be fair look at total deaths in the life of Covid

You are aware that DeSantis in Florida copied exactly what New York did... he sent Covid infected people to nursing homes owned by a large political donor -- all on the taxpayer dime. Of course, the results were many deaths until Florida was forced to shut down the program in October of 2020
