As of the woman, below is a news report, she started feeling unwell last April, couldn´t get a face to face meeting with a doctor, her family member claims when she went to the emergency room, doctors were upset she showed up during the pandemic, until she had to be hospitalized and diagnosed with a late stage colon cancer in July and died in August. Problem has a lot to do with health authorities prioritizing Covid over other (more) dangerous health issues. I do not claim it´s been the same mess everywhere btw, if your experience is with public healthcare, it has probably been better managed where u live than in Spain. Also in MAdrid the covid incidence has more than halved since September, with everything allowed to open from 6am to 12am, some districts have been quarantined here, but still with everything open within those (including schools and gyms, äctually kids playgrounds and public fountains which were closed during summer were open during the time my suburb was ¨locked"), plus ime when it happened in my area, very little enforcement, and lots of exceptions allowed (Letters from gyms in different areas to go and practice have been accepted by police). Many people are still scared though, either by the physical or legal consequences to get close to the virus, and do follow rules rather strictly, what´s now accepted as decent parenting in MAdrid would have probably been considered Psychologic abuse a year ago (I still see it that way). Judo has become "Clean Judo" in a gym I know... each kid alone indoors in a 2*2m square, wearing facemask, and grappling with doll... such a shame... but some parents prefer it that aay at the moment (not all). Lots of kids are mostly kept at home afaik https://www.20minutos.es/noticia/4405310/0/mujer-muere-cancer-sin-lograr-cita-presencial-medico/
Here is an article published this week in Die Welt, original link in German, than a translation from Reddit, it looks good from here considering the tougher lockdowns implemented around: https://www.welt.de/politik/ausland...adrid-Zahlen-gehen-trotz-Highlife-runter.html The media speak of a miracle, researchers are amazed and cannot find a correct explanation for the phenomenon:In the former Corona epicenter Madrid, the numbers are falling rapidly, although bars and restaurants are full. What does the city do differently? Retiro and other parks in Madrid are full of recreational athletes and strollers these days. If you prefer to enjoy the mild autumn sun while sitting with a beer or the popular tiger nut milk drink Horchata, you often have to look for a free terrace table for a long time. While in many other cities in Spain and Europe, in addition to restaurants, cultural and leisure facilities are sometimes completely closed, you can sit in bars and restaurants in the Spanish capital until midnight. The surprising thing is that despite the relatively exuberant hustle and bustle, the number of infections and other important indicators in the former corona epicenter have been falling rapidly for weeks. At the end of September, when the corona situation was still relatively relaxed elsewhere, the Madrid region, with 813 infections per 100,000 inhabitants within 14 days, still had by far the worst values in Western Europe. This so-called 14-day incidence was last only 328. The number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days fell from Wednesday to Thursday from 161 to 152. In Spain, of the total of 17 so-called autonomous communities, only the island regions (the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands) as well as Galicia and Valencia have better values. Such a rapid improvement in the situation as in Madrid is nowhere registered. And even several German federal states, according to the Robert Koch Institute, recently had significantly worse 7-day values, including Berlin (190.8), Bavaria (180.7) and Bremen (173.8). For the whole of Germany this incidence was 140.4. The newspaper “ El Mundo ” and other Spanish media are now speaking of the Madrid “Milagro”, the “Miracle of Madrid”, because of the long-lasting trend. Experts are puzzling and do not dare to provide concrete explanations. What is Madrid doing right? "That is the million dollar question," says epidemiologist José Jonay Ojeda to "El Mundo". It is too early to draw any conclusions. Ojeda agrees with many colleagues, however, that there could be one main reason for success: antigen testing. This is how the “miracle” became a reality in Madrid Madrid bought five million of these tests at the end of September. Test offensives were launched in problem areas. “That was the right decision. This makes it easier, cheaper and faster to diagnose contagious cases. So infected people can be isolated earlier, ”explains Miguel Ángel Royo, spokesman for the Spanish Association of Epidemiologists. The antigen tests are less sensitive than the PCR tests. "But very few positive cases go undetected," says Ojeda. Other Spanish regions, which, despite stricter restrictions on the virus, simply cannot master it, look to Madrid with a mixture of envy and skepticism. There are doubts, especially in Catalonia with the tourist metropolis of Barcelona, which has always had a great rivalry with Madrid in all areas (from football to business). “We question the optimism in Madrid. It is clear that there is an information blackout there, ”said regional health minister Marc Ramentol. Because of the persistently poor numbers, all restaurants, bars, cinemas and theaters in Catalonia will be closed until November 23rd. The instruction, which has been in effect since October 16, was extended by ten days on Friday. The cordoning off of the region, the cordoning off of all communities on weekends and the nightly curfew are also maintained. Similar strict restrictions also apply in other regions of Spain. But is Ramentol's allegation correct? Are the numbers being embellished by the conservative regional government of Madrid? Some experts do not rule out that there may be problems and delays in recording the cases here and there - not just in Madrid. But they emphasize that the situation in hospitals, for example, cannot be glossed over. And there, too, it always looks better. "The lower numbers of admissions for Covid-19 patients are a reality," says Saúl Ares, head of biotechnology in the Supreme Council for Scientific Research (CSIC). Indeed: at the beginning of October the number of admissions in Madrid was well over 2500 per day, on Thursday only 238 (out of 316 layoffs) were reported. What makes Madrid different from other regions? What makes Madrid different from other regions? The main difference: You do not cordon off the entire region or entire cities and municipalities and seal off only smaller districts that have high numbers. You may only enter or leave these areas with good reason. The curfew will be brought forward to 10 p.m., parks and playgrounds will be closed. That is apparently enough: On Friday, 10 of the 32 affected areas were "unlocked" again because the number of infections there was halved in 14 days. The media and experts are also convinced that the Madrilenians have become more cautious due to the great shock. "Yes that's true. In our family, too, more attempts are made to almost always wear a mask and keep a distance. But there has to be joy too, ”say pensioner Carlos (75) and his wife Lurdes (77) over a glass of red wine on the terrace of the traditional café“ Gijón ”in unison. All Madrileños are happy about the “miracle”, but one woman in particular: Isabel Díaz Ayuso. The regional president had been sharply criticized for months by the central government, the media and colleagues from other regions because of her corona policy. She was accused of helplessness and inaction. For many media outlets she was already "politically dead". Now the journalist is suddenly seen as the new star and the bearer of hope for the conservative People's Party (PP). You have "eggs, better ovaries", wrote columnist Emilia Landeluca in "El Mundo". And TV star presenter Pablo Motos shouted in front of an audience of millions on Thursday evening: "It's good that we have them
Explanation of the Madrid Miracle, the leader of the community is a woman, Incumbent. Isabel Díaz Ayuso The president of the Community of Madrid is the highest-ranking officer of the Autonomous Community of Madrid and the head of the executive branch. The office is currently held by Isabel Díaz Ayuso of the People's Party.
One girl there, one guy here, 5 guys there. Not a great comparison against the many lives that were saved (thousands if not more) by properly addressing this crisis.
I recognize another incarnation of the many times banned from this forum Volpunter here and know u are as thick as bad turds come so won t spend hours discussing with u. But the threat of "a tsunami of cancer deaths" in Scotland , Spain and probably many more places, nor double heart stroke deaths during Spain lockdown are onviously not 1 guy here and there, extra deaths were around 70% more than covid deaths during the quarantine in Spain - while deaths were very liberally attributed to covid . Extra deaths from lockdown damage will keep on going for a while.. the destruction economically has been huge, way of life of entire population has been ruined, massive psychological damage on people much younger than covid victims. Massive criminal behaviour from the government imo.
1. Wear a face mask when going out. This is to protect others more than self. 2. Disinfect our hands because the virus can survive on surfaces. 3. Avoiding eating in group. Talking close proximity is a no no. 4. Cannot go to pub or bar. Never depend on politicians or government.
We hit 2K death per day yesterday, anybody wants to guess at what number are we going to top? I think we will do 3K this year, and after Christmas, the sky is the limit.
You must be confusing me for someone else. Any source for your 70% claim? Or just your own numbers that you pulled out of thin air?
And unless all people wear face masks when being close to anyone else this is gonna get worse. Simple as that. It's so typical of conservatives to laugh things off until things hit home. We hear the same dumb stories over and over again. Conservatives making fun of homosexuals and drug addicts. But when a conservative has a Homo son or junkie daughter then the table is turned and they become all compassionate. Some people you have to hit with a baseball bat on the head to crack that little iq they have open. Same with covid now. Listen to all those guys on this forum who hate face masks and cry about the economy. If their son or daughter or mom dies of covid then it all changes all of a sudden. We live in a world full of selfish people who can't be bothered about the hardship of others but become all mellow when calamity strikes home.
