That's bad news for Trump's reelection in 2024. A lot of Republicans believe what Trump says, no masks and so on. With a bit of luck most people who die will be Republicans. So Trump will lose a lot of votes as according to him dead people are not allowed to vote. But if Trump would lose again in 2024 he will accuse the Democrats of murdering his voters. With or without the help of Venezuela and China (Giuliani will decide about this).
Trump re-election in 2024? You must be kidding. I am willing to bet the farm that we will not see another populist conservative candidate in our lifetime anymore. I think most people learned the lesson, especially the Republican party. With most, I mean a majority of the Republican political base and 6 million more of the sheeple at the very least...
Below are links, but useless to u I´m afraid, how can someone be so blinded in bad faith to claim there´s maybe 1 extra death here and 3 there linked to lockdown ? Link below in Spanish, 48000 extra death from MArch to June, around 28000 deaths on official count by then . https://www.rtve.es/noticias/202010...ertes-pico-pandemia-coronavirus/2046640.shtml double heart attacks deaths during the pandemic : https://www.elmundo.es/ciencia-y-salud/salud/2020/09/14/5f5f5f0ffdddffdf038b45c1.html
The main concern is preventing hospital resources from being overloaded. Even if everyone recovers from the virus, and there were no deaths; these people will still consume hospital resources (beds, nurses, etc.). So if all beds are taken, and you and your loved ones are in a serious car accident, and need hospitalization; your treatment will either be delayed, substandard, or non-existent.
It's not spreading in Korea or Wuhan where I have family the way it is in the USA. In my town fifty percent have refused to follow any rules so it was never under control.
That was the argument, but it´s showing far from true. In Spain, while overwhelmed hospitals also happen with tough flu seasons and no special restrictions are taken, the whole country was forced into a strict stay at home last Spring when most of the country was hardly touched by covid (did u notice the absolutely empty emergency room and idle medical staff I showed in a videos a few posts above ? That was on the 1st day of stay at home order), than hospitals emptied more than normal, and it lasted a few weeks more before people were even allowed to walk around their block than mingle and eat outside. Now in madrid, the cases have more than halved since September, the covid hospitalizations have dropped and yet... this morning the provincial government decided to lower the threshold from 500 to 400 cases for 100k people in the last 14 days to confine more areas (including my neighborhood, although we expect our household to go on about our business, which should work if the situation is similar to the lockdown we got a few weeks back). National health minister declared he wants to get to below 25 covid cases per day in the whole country. This goes beyond keeping hospital resources available. What´s next ? People and government notice the flu also disappear with lockdown so lockdowns are implemented until it´s time to get rid of common cold ?
That´s much better than being locked indoors or not allowed to travel, I spent quite a bit of time in shitholes like Myanmar where medical care was mostly useless and I can deal with it, if life was fun there at least, like in Yangon - China just sucked, with an healthcare better than Myanmar but better not have an emergency.
I was/am referring to the U.S.; where I live. In the U.S., when hospital capacity reaches critical levels, it makes the news; and hospital personnel speak about it. I believe there may still be websites up where some locations display available capacities. I don't recall any flu season in the U.S. where multiple hospitals were full due to the normal flu.
Fair enough, besides extra deaths in Spain have exceeded the worst recent flu season afaik, but again why excess deaths were so much higher than covid declared deaths is an issue here not yet sorted out. Too extreme a lockdown and social panic are prime suspects though.
