weirdly, I've been in and out of hospitals these last 6 months visiting and all those no-degreed-having, science-denial amateurs still ask us to wear masks going in. Brainwashed fools!
Check out Florida's Covid mortality ranking in comparison to other states in my recent graph comparisons. It's as you said...not as hunky dory portray to be. In my opinion, DeSantis (he is vaccinated) is doing a very good job keeping the lid on a lot of crap down there. He has to if he plans to run for President. wrbtrader
So despite there being multiple states with higher or effectively equal population -- Florida is #1 in Covid deaths for many months. "It’s also the third summer in a row Florida has been No. 1 for COVID deaths." DeSantis and his cronies are directly responsible for the oversized number of Covid deaths in Florida in what can only be described as a public health disaster. Florida's run this year moved beyond the summer months of being number 1 in raw and per-capita Covid deaths going all the way into November. Shortly we will be able to see if Florida also leads the nation in December Covid deaths. Florida leads nation in COVID deaths even as cases continue to decline https://www.palmbeachpost.com/story...eaths-though-cases-keep-declining/7904033001/ Sept 2, 2022 For the third month in a row, Florida logged more COVID-19 deaths than anywhere else in America. The state’s COVID death toll grew by 1,614 people in August, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data shows. As coronavirus omicron subvariants swept the state this summer, Florida fatalities topped the nation from June through August. It’s also the third summer in a row Florida has been No. 1 for COVID deaths. The state became the national epicenter for the disease in August 2020, after Gov. Ron DeSantis began allowing businesses and public places to reopen. The state again became the COVID fatality capital of America last year in July and August, months after state officials suspended all remaining pandemic restrictions. (More at above url)
From a pure policy standpoint, I don't think that FL made a mistake. You can't solely look at FL's mortality rate to justify the policy decisions. You have to look at the risk-factors. FL is old. It has a 21.3% senior citizen rate, second highest in the country to Maine. The smoking and obesity rates are pretty average. If you adjust for all of this then you'd see that FL is really doing no worse than CA. I think everybody should get vaccinated (and as Trump has said, DeSantis is a coward for his avoidance on talking about it), but I don't begrudge FL for staying open. A lot of damage was done by closing the economy/schools. His pandering to anti-vaxxers will cost some lives on the margins.
Is DeSantis good or bad for Florida and the country? Is Dr. Fauci full of scientific wisdom or he is full of sh? Am I a stupid conservative full of the same sh or GWB and Cuddles are a pair of one-eyed parrots (only left eye keeps functioning)? We can discuss whatever on this board and enjoy our freedom. It is a very small place. FBI, CIA and other letters are not interested yet. At least I hope so. Larger shops are highly suppressed. These agencies violate our constitutional rights. It is very clearly presented in the Twitter story and this is a huge problem. Trump tried to change the situation. Look what happened to him. This is an exemplary warning to others who are thinking to try the same. Any crimes are good to cover, any lies are good to achieve their goals.
What's missed is Florida fudged their data, they were not even reporting mandatory information, threatening those who revealed their fake data, nothing from these people can be trusted.
We should also mention that even in the age 25 to 60 category Florida does horribly in deaths compared to many other states on a per-capita basis since Covid vaccines were introduced. There is no doubt also that the Covid deaths in Florida are greatly undercounted.
