how could I have been so ignorant. science ruled out a creator? science knows there is no "before" or "after" the big bang? damn I just looked for the memo on the net. all I found were ignorant scientists stating time in our universe started a split second after the big bang... and science really can not see further back than that?
You can rule out a creator yourself. Try to remember the last time you fell asleep. The only reason you remember falling asleep is because you woke up the next morning (or whenever.) to remember that you fell asleep. But you can never recall the falling asleep bit. Just as you can never remember any unconscious activity until after you wake up from it and recall what happened before you lost consciousness. Do you remember the time before you were born? No. So why would you remember the time after you die?
we have a little deal in our brain chemistry and design... sometimes when you first wake up you vividly remember the dream you were having. sometimes you may even feel the effects of our natural drug that kept your muscles still as it rapidly dissipates. yet by noon you forget 99 percent of your dreams. Perhaps our brains know many things at a subconscious level that we are designed not to "know" on a more conscious level until we arrive at the next level or life or whatever happens to our personalities after we die... so, I find you comment interesting but not dispositive on the issue of a creator... at least for me.
After drowning once sea swimming and revived only due to that last kick the brain gives (uniquely different experience from any other loss of consciousness or drug) and due to my hospice work been around a lot of deaths.. we certainly appear to just cease. Plenty of people including myself when I had malaria can attest to the feeling that dead relatives are present when they are dangerously ill. My only half decent talent is when in the mood I notice details many others do not. Not a superpower, just a little talent. I'd like to think there is something I have seen but.. The most comforting idea for me has been the notion that we are all "God" perhaps. That there is one "soul" but it lives all lives of all people, animals, aliens perhaps but in non-linear time. It kind of makes sense of evil, stop hitting yourself etc. Back to the forge.
Well there is somthing... Whether it is our brain doing something amazing or an external influence I cannot say. I did primary flight training at Torrance Airport, Zamperini Field. I started working for the aviation company where I trained for free flight time. I did some radio/nav gear work but I also test flew new engine installations. I was scheduled to take up a re-engined 182 in the morning. I laid down to sleep and had the most lucid dream of my life. I dreamed I flew a box departure (to stay over the field in case the engine grenaded) and climbed to 4500 AGL to get on the special flight rules corridor North. When I leveled off at 4500 I went to retard the throttle and the engine went... "buh" and the rpm stayed at 1400 despite advancing and retarding the knob.. and I woke up. When I walked into dispatch in the morning I blurted out that I dreamed that I had a throttle problem 4500 feet over the building. The owner said he would turn on the base unit radio and monitor me. I taxied into the run-up area and was super meticulous with the checklist. The throttle seemed completely normal and I ran it up and down at least 10 times. I climbed out on my box departure and leveled off at 4500 and retarded the throttle. The engine went "buh" and the rpm stayed at 1400 despite advancing and retarding the knob. That is not enough revs for level flight and too much for landing. I gave the tower a call and said I was having some difficulty and needed a little room. I did not declare an emergency but they scattered everyone away from the airport for me. I flew out a bit from the airport decending and got honked around and lined up. The engine had a carburetor and so it had a mixture knob and I yanked it to full rich and killed the engine as I was coming over the fence. I rolled out and off the active onto a taxiway. A truck rolled up and handed me the form that has two boxes, incident or accident and I checked neither and wrote "just a tow" at the top of the form. Not gonna lie, I feel like my paternal grandmother looks after me. There is definitely something we can't see. Our A&P mechanic used the wrong washer where the throttle assembly clamped to the cable. He used a teflon washer and the throttle assy. slid freely up and down the cable when we looked at it. It was a new carb with a stiff spring. Fuck me.
