The spread rate is exponential when compared with the flu. The risk is the strain on the medical community for the large percentage that will have respiratory issues and have to miss work or school. With all due respect, I'm not missing the point. The virus needs to run it's course. So we're all going to hole up for 2-4 weeks. Then what? Is the virus going to disappear like some fart in the wind? No. Will there be some magic cure? No. Whatever dip there is in the spread due to the "social distancing" will go right back up when people go back out. Just how long are we supposed to stay locked in our homes? People will die from this, probably 100K plus, could push 200,000. Yes, every death a tragic one, but tens of millions of lives will be economically destroyed in the process of trying to save these people who are still going to be at risk because the virus isn't going away anytime soon, nor will there be a vaccine. Eventually we will have to accept one more virus on the planet, one that mutates and recurs every single year, and it will be about 3-5 times as deadly as the seasonal flu. That is and will be a fact of life and destroying a country trying to prevent it is a fools errand and that is the point.
