  3. They served in the unit on other boats. They all knew each other and went on patrols as a group, at least for the 13 or 14 weeks that Kerry was there. Most of them had never been involved in politics but were united by a common revulsion that a backstabbing slime like Kerry might become president.

  6. While I have to say that Coulter definitely should not have made the comments she made, I also found Edwards' own reply to them quite comical considering his hiring of Amanda Marcotte and McEwan for his blog. Here are his comments on the situation:

"I think it's important that we not reward hateful, selfish, childish behavior with attention. I also believe that it's important for all of us to speak out against language of this kind because it is the place where hatred gets its foothold and we can't stand silently by and allow this kind of language to be used."

I agree with what he is saying here. What I find funny is the fact that he rewarded Marcotte and McEwan for their hateful speech by keeping them on until they finally resigned on their own. Here was his statement with regards to Marcotte and McEwan:

The tone and the sentiment of some of Amanda Marcotte's and Melissa McEwan's posts personally offended me. It's not how I talk to people, and it's not how I expect the people who work for me to talk to people. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but that kind of intolerant language will not be permitted from anyone on my campaign, whether it's intended as satire, humor, or anything else. But I also believe in giving everyone a fair shake. I've talked to Amanda and Melissa; they have both assured me that it was never their intention to malign anyone's faith, and I take them at their word.

Now will he take Coulter on her word that it was just a joke and give her a fair shake? Probably not. Does she deserve one? No. However, he should have had the balls to fire his bloggers when they did the exact same thing, but he didn't. I think ultimately this is going to hurt him, although I don't really think he has a chance anyway.

I mispoke a bit. Rearden Metal's post was no where near the best defense of Coulter, he didn't even attempt to defend her idiotic use of the word "Fag" ...... How stupid does one have to be to make allusions to Edwards being a faggot, on stage, with CNN camera's rolling.

Stick another fork in her ...

Your analogy isn't a perfect one. Instead of ratting out Person A, if Person B tried to make judgements of Person A's morality, it might be more appliable. If say, Person A enjoys ridiculing faggy behavior and then points a condemning finger at Person B for ridiculing faggy behavior, would be the perfect example.

In any event, who the f*k cares, fags are notorious for ridiculing other fags faggy behavoir. Why should straight people be left out off the fun.

  8. I think people are missing something here. No one seriously contends that Edwards is actually a homosexual, no matter how many personal skin care products he uses. It's like when people called Clinton a scumbag. No one really thought he was a used condom. It was just a terrific analogy. Same with Edwards.

The terrible thing about it is not that it isn't true, but that from now on whenever anyone sees him, that is the first thing that will pop into their mind. I find it highly hypocritical for Democrats to be in a lather over this though, because they are the ones who pretty much invented this kind of drive-by personal insult approach to politics. They did it to Robert Bork, they did it to Clarence Thomas, they did it to Jesse Helms, they did it to Reagan, they did it to Cheney, they did it to Bush. They do it to everyone who crosses them, but they squeal like stuck pigs when they get the same treatment.

  9. And no one actually goes to rehab for using the term faggot. Typical Anne Coulter sense of humor and also killing two birds with one stone. Edwards being a pretty boy, and the liberals ridiculous invention of political correctness.

  10. Here's Ann's rebuttal, equally as funny:
"...c'mon, it was a joke. I would never insult gays by suggesting that they are like John Edwards. That would be mean."
