And they make that money regardless of how the economy is doing, unlike the highly cyclical auto industry.
Exactly... And they probably innovate more so more IP... although whether Apple is innovating is another discussion, but probably more innovative than Ford. Bigger margins as well.... smaller investments in large scale manufacturing etc....
Ford provide the car basically, Apple can provide the motor and batterys and software maybe for auto driving. Don't see them stepping out of there comfort zone. Msft on the other hand is getting left in the dust, there phone division failed, win 10 they gave away for free only thing making money are xboxs and office 365, they need to do something, but lets hope not, likely be the death of Ford like everything else they touch.
The original post was a joke to start with... I was merely wondering where they could spend 238 Billion.... But buying Citi for Apple-Pay might not be bad idea. F*ck the toasters....Give granny a free I-Phone. Then charge her negative interest.
That's the "Apple-dilemma".. They're stuck in a taxation issue... they can't bring it home to the US because they will have to pay a large tax on it... I think as well if they do a special dividend of say $50... They should do a special purpose vehicle spin-off in which all current shareholders have the same stake and then do an off-shore liquidation of that... maybe they'll avoid tax that way
On January 3, Ford announced that it is canceling its plans for a new $1.6-billion assembly plant in Mexico. Instead, the company intends to expand an existing factory in Michigan, creating 700 new jobs. That is news for who think apple is buying ford.
