A note on this. There seems to be a lot of confusion concerning terminology ( eg lockdown, restrictions, open vs closed ) on this topic. It is important if people want to discuss this they understand what countries/states/areas are actually doing versus this absolute open or closed talk. For example, you said Canada's second wave occurred right after we opened up. In reality, Canada has opened up in three stages and stage 3 started late July in Toronto earlier most of Canada. The initial "lockdown" was over well before that. At some points, Canada and Sweden were similar in approach, yet we had people on here say Canada was "closed" and Sweden was "open".

If 40 percent "may" be asymptomatic, the chances are that some significant number below that actually are. The Hamilton case was traced and reported on widely in Canada. As a result of that situation ( maybe more ), gyms were closed in Ontario for 28 days. The facility followed all safety precautions and was surprised an outbreak occurred.

Yeah, many keep saying Sweden did not lockdown while Sweden itself stated they did a "Lockdown Lite" that included restrictions. The key aspect, Sweden did not call it a hoax in the beginning and they had a government that did not playdown Covid-19 when they started their "Lockdown Lite" approach.

As for Canada, its problem did not occur in the stage 1 of re-opening. The problem occurred in the stage 3 at least it was the situation here in Québec, Canada.

I remember a favourite restaurant of mine was closed in stage 1 but re-open in stage 2 with limits.

    There were no problems.

Yet, when they went into stage 3 (limits increased) they were then cited for health violations for exceeding those limits when they allowed a private party to occur. Within 2 weeks a Covid-19 breakout occurred from that private party..two people died and they were not elderly.

Also, 400 (they may have said 4,000) people crossed the closed borders from the United States into Canada via private jet. Some of them brought Covid-19 into the Montréal, Toronto and Vancouver airports...people with money were allowed to come and go as they please even though they were asked to self-quarantine..most did not.

    One example @ https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/sep/18/trump-donor-liz-uihlein-canada-quarantine

Canada is now suffering because the morons do not care and Canada has allowed them to come / go as they please. Forget the threats of fines...throw them in jail for a few hours with others that have been arrested for assault...treat them the same as those others.

Liz Uihlein is one of the few that got caught. Most of the others were not caught.
