This is very odd... is this just a current precaution or do they know something we don't know about COVID-19?

Coronavirus Survivors 'Permanently Disqualified' from Joining U.S. Military

The military will stop recruiting applicants who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to a proposal in a memo from the U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command (MEPCOM).

The contents of the memo, which has been circulating on the internet, were confirmed to Newsweek by the Pentagon, which described them as "interim guidance." The story was first reported by the Military Times.

"During the medical history interview or examination, a history of COVID-19, confirmed by either a laboratory test or a clinician diagnosis, is permanently disqualifying," the memo reads.

Additionally, the memo lays out guidelines for handling possible and confirmed coronavirus cases in applicants. It says any applicants at any of the 65 nationwide Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS) should be evaluated for possible coronavirus infection, most likely through a temperature check and questions about their symptoms and possible contact with infected individuals.

If an applicant seems likely positive for the coronavirus, they can return to the MEPS if they're symptom-free after 14 days. Anyone who tests positive through a lab test or clinical diagnosis can return to MEPS 28 days after their diagnosis.

However, their application will be marked as "permanently disqualifying," and while applicants can request a waiver the memo offers no further guidance for possible COVID-19 exceptions, meaning that "a review authority would have no justification to grant a waiver," says the Military Times.

This ban applies uniquely applies to coronavirus survivors while allowing applicants with histories of other viral, non-chronic illnesses to enter the military.

The ban may also result from limited research on COVID-19, as there's still much that's unknown about the virus, the permanence and assessment of its damage on the lungs and body, whether the virus can reemerge in those who've seemingly recovered from it, and whether prior infection makes a person more immune or susceptible to catching it again.

  3. first comment below the article says:

I am in recruiting, this is a very misleading article. They are not permanently disqualified as in “never can join.” They submit med docs and can return after 28 days

I don't know. Just sayin there is that comment to consider.

    However the memo reads ----
"During the medical history interview or examination, a history of COVID-19, confirmed by either a laboratory test or a clinician diagnosis, is permanently disqualifying,"

I tend to think the military simply does not know what it is doing about COVID-19 when it comes to recruiting so they basically issued interim guidance that no one with COVID-19 in the medical history can be recruited.

  5. So if someone had it in March and enlists in September they are banned? Seems extreme to turn away volunteers to serve.

  6. Just sayin that I can easily see- in the world of government/military- that their process may require them to designate something as permanently disqualifying - but that "permanently disqualifying" determinations can be appealed, and if you can overcome that by jumping through certain hoops- such as by submitting required further medical examination and testing.

In the world of government, if something needs to be classified as "permanently disqualifying" to be kicked up to a review board, then it becomes labeled as "permanently disqualifying." Which of course means that it is not permanently disqualifying because the review board can overturn it.

Anyway, the military can respond back and say more.

  7. So how many categories are we going to have in the future? Tested postive, survived and/or shows no symptoms. Should they be avoided just to be safe? Probably. Not tested and shows symptoms? Best to avoid. Not tested showing no symptoms? Better avoid to be safe. Refuses to be tested and show symptoms? Probably better to just shoot these dummies. Refuses to be tested, shows no symptoms? Hey, we're playing it safe so you folks line up against the wall right here, we'll be with you shortly. Since living in a risk free, completely safe environment has now become our number one priority best to just stay home locked down tight. Ministry of Truth TV will tell you when it is safe to come out again. Probably some time early November. We'll let you know depending...

They are going to effectively ban everyone then, because everyone is going to test positive for this thing throughout it's lifespan as it circulates through the world with it's various mutations.

What the hell is wrong with these people? Just waving the white flag to enemies who would invade us in 10 years when we have half the military defense force we should have, because someone had a fever.
