If you compare to the flu, over 65 year olds represent 80% of the mortality rate of the flu, so maybe divide by 4 or 5.

First research showing some correlation between higher temperatures and humidity, and decrease in Covid spread:

Thai healthcare is surprisingly good. Once you are in and they establish that you are insured or can pay the care is pretty good. A friend of mine got Dengue on Koh Samui and was laying in a hospital there near death. I went there to see about getting him on a medical flight out but we ended up staying put and he rode it out in the Thai hospital. The place was clean and they took good care of my friend and let me come and go without a hassle. He had purchased supplemental health insurance so he had literally no bill at the end of his stay.

Mosquitoes still kill people. They don't tell you but those southern islands have a big Dengue problem if they have a heavy monsoon season. The shit they didn't tell you on Gilligan's Island.

I have this shot record form that folds out to about 4 feet. It started out as my military shot record but I kept using it. I've had vax for all the tropical stuff, multiple times and I've been in areas where you had to take malaria pills. You know you are in a malaria country when you see people drinking gin & tonic using Indian Tonic Water (schweppes yellow label) which has quinine in it. You have to be careful with quinine if you are a pilot.

  6. Mosquitoes are the devil.

Yellow Fever, Malaria, Dengue, Zika, Chikunguya, etc...

They breed in water that becomes filthy with pollution and other things and then bite you and put it into your blood and then take your blood and contact it with the next person they bite....

I had Dengue in Panama and thanks to somewhat above average immune system it was a shitty 10 days versus several weeks but can see why it kills. The only medical care was medicine for the symptoms and IV if you get dehydrated, otherwise it has to run its course (fever, chills, rash, nausea, pain behind the eyes, weakness...).

All these diseases spread thanks to mosquitoes and they keep changing and there is no preventive measures except spraying and repellent. FUck mosquitoes.

Even if you don't get sick their bites itch like mutha.

    Fingers crossed.

Data from Italy suggests an uncontrolled outbreak may be bending the curve at 4 weeks. This is good news for us in the US as we are in the middle of an uncontrolled outbreak ourselves.

The question will be, if these numbers prove out, how low will the infection rate get and how to maintain a manageable rate of infection.
