    We are coming into the swing of this now and we will learn if we managed to flatten the curve within the next 3 to 5 days.

    If we begin rocketing up, we will have a lot of deaths. Right now we are about 1 - 1.7 percent mortality without exceeding hospital capacity. If we exceed capacity mortality will triple or quadruple.

    Notice we are exponential at two days now. The goal is to lengthen the time in which we double cases.

  4. More testing equals an expected rise in cases reported. Doesn't mean much at this point. People have been walking around with this for weeks, probably months. Death rate is what it's all about. Still not 20 per day in the U.S., a statistical zero. No need for concern unless and until that rate of death begins to double or triple daily and stays that way for many days on a row. Anything less than 300-500 dead per day in U.S. is nothing, not even keeping pace with a bad year of seasonal flu. Substantially more than that then all of this we're going through will have been justified. Anything less will have put us through the wringer for nothing. Huge bet on curtailing the "speculated" numbers while inflicting massive pain on the entire economy which will impact tens of millions in a very substantial way which will last for years and years.

    I keep hearing people putting adeath total quota on whether our efforts as a nation are worth it. This doesn’t jibe with history. Historically, we are doing what most nations do during a plague, isolation. What is concerning is that we don’t have any other options than what people have been doing for thousands of years.

  7. Maybe we should set up an international organization- fund the bejesus out of it- and have it coordinate and develop responses to diseases and conditions that impact the entire world.

    We could call it The World Health Organization.

    Oh, that's right. I was informed by you yesterday that world health is outside the scope of the World Health Organization.

    What was I thinking? My bad.

    191/13671=1.4%
    Iran=6.9%
    Italy=8.3%

    :(

    4400+ new cases today, 41 dead (USA). Exponential growth not boding well. Try explaining exponents to cultists though.
