  3. Italy is fucked..

They just past more deaths than China and most are still not following the social distancing and quarantine rules.

We will go the same route if we are as stupid and this will last longer then.

  4. Italy claims to have taken swift action on banning flights from China - but not really.

They banned direct flights from China but people were still coming in by doing roundabout connecting flights. Pretty stupid. I guess they fixed that after a while but it probably cost them bigtime.

  5. Well not just that, it took them a while to shutdown and they were too slow to react. This is what we are hoping to avoid.

  9. The other important thing- and this is pretty basic- is that you not only have to do the shutdown but you have to be disciplined and conscientious about what you do, not just go through the motions. Not exactly a strong point with the Italians (and Americans) compared to the asian countries.

To that point, I read an article that was talking about how one of the big problems in Italy at this time is that there is still an enormous amount of running back and forth with the kids to see the grandparents and the "shutdown" lets them do even more of it. You know it is an older population with a strong grandparent culture and they have just ramped up the 'let's go visit granny" behavior up at the worst time. I am not without sympathy with them on this because managing your parents and your kids at this time is a challenge. And the older folk are either panicking or see no real problem- neither being helpful. The Italians need to knock of the drama and discover some discipline. I throw Americans in with that group too.

I am out on the left coast and see people walking on the beaches with signs that say "GO HOME." Pretty funny in some ways. It's almost like they want a border around their town. I have also seen a couple "NO CRUISE SHIPS" signs on cars. Oh yeh, that welcome mat has been rolled up.

  10. Yeh. I had to dick around with it for a while. I tried going in through "incognito" and it would not let me and then I screwed around with it again, and took my adblocker and various vpn's down etc and got in through the roll of the dice. Lemme see if I can get it again.
