  1. If only only taking Trump out of the picture made the vaccine roll-out go smoothly, the EU would be all set.

Probably is- and pardon my English- it definitely don't.

Most definitely. Some first class clown shows going on.

Note that I did not even mention that it is American vaccines that they are fighting over. They don't bring much to the party. The Brits have astra-oxford coming along a bit so they are an exception. Of course they don't really count as EU either. Good.

  2. Holy Shiite!!!

    Busted by the Picnic Police.

Y'all watch out for that!!! Lookin' out for you.

That "picnic" looks very much like a Starbuck's coffee to a normal person, but, hey, it's a new world.

"one of them started reading my rights"

Covid: Women on exercise trip 'surrounded by police'

Two women have described how they were surrounded by police, read their rights and fined £200 each after driving five miles to take a walk.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-derbyshire-55560814

The women were also told the hot drinks they had brought along were not allowed as they were "classed as a picnic".

Guidance for the current lockdown says people can travel for exercise as long as it is in their "local area".

The police force involved, Derbyshire Police, said driving for exercise was "not in the spirit" of lockdown.

One of the would-be walkers, Jessica Allen, assumed "someone had been murdered" when she arrived at Foremark Reservoir on Wednesday afternoon.

  4. China's first vaccine not looking that zippy. Within the range of being useful and helpful but not zippy.

Reports on China's vaccines could get convoluted as we go forward. They have two that are out there now I think but another four in the pipeline.

It was "originally touted" in Brazil as being more effective but based upon China's alleged studies. Then they licenses it to Brazil and Indonesia and couple other places and those other places are now doing their own studies, I think.

It's hard to tell. China lies about everything and their goal is to get a vaccine approved and paid for WHO and be the main supplier to the third world. So not only are the Chinese willing to lie about its effectivity, but their buddies that they got appointed to run the WHO are willing to back up their lies and give them big contracts.

Biden will have us rejoining the WHO within a a couple weeks and returning to being the WHO'S biggest funding source, which means that we will be paying for a lot of bullshiite vaccines that the Chinese distribute.

    Big Guy gets 10.

Chinese Covid-19 Vaccine Is Far Less Effective Than Initially Touted in Brazil
Late-stage testing results of Sinovac’s shot were almost 30 percentage points lower than previously announced, as concerns grow over the study’s transparency

  5. The BBC doing a happy-clappy puff piece article on the roll-out of vaccine in India.

But, not a single piece of phase 3 data has been made available to the public there or to other scientists for peer review.

Lefty reporting. If the Americans did that, the headlines would be massively different.

  6. Reality setting in.

    Virus gets to fight back.

Herd immunity may not be achievable even with high vaccine uptake

The government vaccination program may not be sufficient to achieve herd immunity—even if everyone in the UK is vaccinated—according to new research from the University of East Anglia.

Researchers modeled the effectiveness of UK-wide immunization programs using the Oxford and Pfizer vaccines, taking into account the highly transmissible new COVID-19 variant.

They found that the only way to reach herd immunity for the UK would be to vaccinate almost everyone—including children—with the more effective Pfizer vaccine.

  7. Heard an interesting factoid from Tom Price.

He said that during the peak of flu season, that the U.S. does over 3 million flu vaccinations a day.

Gives you a sense of what is logistically possible as far as administering vaccine - if supply and distribution are adequate. Yeh, I know they are not. Just saying for those who think of more than one or two factors at a time, the ability to administer vaccines is a factor.

But.....but.....but....Germany's plan is so much better than Trump's plan. I mean Trump doesn't even have a plan. Germany has military, cold storage facility, etc.

Oh wait, it looks like a total clusterfuck in EU and Germany. It is so fucking bad that Merkel is holding a national vaccination summit.

All of your Germany is so awesome and Trump suck so bad post are not aging very well.

Vaccine Shortage Derails European Inoculation Drive

In latest blow, German government advisors say AstraZeneca’s shot shouldn’t be administered to people over 65 years of age

Europe’s vaccine plans are unraveling amid a shortage of doses that is raising concerns about the continent’s ability to immunize its most vulnerable populations and reopen its economy in the near term.

In the latest blow for the continent, advisers to the German government warned on Thursday that AstraZeneca PLC’s vaccine shouldn’t be given to people over the age of 64 because of a lack of data about its efficacy in this group.

Europe is already lagging behind the U.K. and the U.S., which have vaccinated 11.3% and 7.1% of their populations respectively, according to data from Oxford University. By comparison, the EU has vaccinated just 2.2 % of its 450 million people.

The EU, which centralizes vaccine procurement for its members, has ordered 2.3 billion doses from six manufacturers and set a target for the region’s governments to immunize 70% of adults in the bloc by the summer, a goal that seems increasingly out of reach.

This means there is little hope of an end to lockdowns and other constraints on public life soon, spelling trouble for the region’s economy, large parts of which depend on services, including travel and tourism, especially in the less-affluent south.

Germany and Europe's problem is a vaccine shortage -- not a distribution problem. The vaccine manufacturers have not met their commitments for deliveries to European countries (see article below as an example). Coupled with issues with particular vaccines -- for example AstraZeneca's vaccine now should be administered to older people as you cited.

Even more interesting that the EU is threatening to seize doses of COVID vaccines manufactured in Europe and not allow them to be shipped to the U.K. "The controls could potentially affect distribution of the Pfizer vaccine, which is manufactured in Belgium."

  10. The Brits and EU have got themselves a first class food fight going over vaccine these days.

A lot of Brit-first and EU-first rhetoric mixed in with it. Not cool for lefties.

They have pretty much lost ground in the last couple months. Virus has exploded and their vaccine and distribution system is very shaky to non-existent. The EU lefties were all ramping up their criticism of the US for wanting the vaccine that we helped develop and pay for to be for Americans first. Now, they are so busy protecting their own arses and running for the lifeboats that they have lost their fake high ground. They were acting like the Canadians, Trudeau in particular, who was crowing las month about how much vaccine Canada is going to give to third world countries. WTF! You don't have any until someone gives you some.

The lefties can't find a way to blame it on Trump so they just ignore it and go back to making the U.S. situation look the worst. It's what they do.

Joe will get em some Chinese vaccine through the UN. Maybe put Hunter in charge of the effort. Big Guy gets 10.

"The warning comes after a row among the EU, the UK, and AstraZeneca this week after the drugs firm said it would reduce supplies of its COVID-19 vaccine to the bloc by 75% due to production problems."

The EU's plan to block vaccine exports will be 'devastating' for global vaccine supply, warn business leaders
