more on melatonin Researchers identify melatonin as possible COVID-19 treatment Results from a new Cleveland Clinic-led study suggest that melatonin, a hormone that regulates the sleep-wake cycle and is commonly used as an over-the-counter sleep aid, may be a viable treatment option for COVID-19. As COVID-19 continues to spread throughout the world, particularly with cases rising during what some have termed the "fall surge," repurposing drugs already approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for new therapeutic purposes continues to be the most efficient and cost-effective approach to treat or prevent the disease. According to the findings published today in PLOS Biology, a novel artificial intelligence platform developed by Lerner Research Institute researchers to identify possible drugs for COVID-19 repurposing has revealed melatonin as a promising candidate. Analysis of patient data from Cleveland Clinic's COVID-19 registry also revealed that melatonin usage was associated with a nearly 30 percent reduced likelihood of testing positive for SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) after adjusting for age, race, smoking history and various disease comorbidities. https://medicalxpress.com/news/2020-11-melatonin-covid-treatment.html
Frequent, rapid testing could cripple COVID within weeks, study shows "Our big picture finding is that, when it comes to public health, it's better to have a less sensitive test with results today than a more sensitive one with results tomorrow," said lead author Daniel Larremore, an assistant professor of computer science at CU Boulder. https://medicalxpress.com/news/2020-11-frequent-rapid-cripple-covid-weeks.html

Wheeee.......whooooooookay fine, what could go wrong here? I don't know, but they are definitely into the world of unintended consequences, or at risk I would think. However, let it all hang out and let the viewers decide. This is not Facebook or Twitter. So far anyway. Hong Kong offering payments to residents who test positive for COVID-19 amid rise in cases © Getty Hong Kong residents who test positive for COVID-19 will be given $645, Health Secretary Sophia Chan said on Sunday, as a way to encourage people to get tested. Bloomberg also reported that Hong Kong will be imposing new restrictions, including scrapping plans for a travel bubble between the city and Singapore. Hong Kong also ordered its first compulsory testing order, targeting people who were at 14 dance centers this past month believed to be linked to coronavirus clusters, according to the news outlet. Chan also reportedly said in a radio interview that the government would be setting up five community testing centers, bringing the total up to nine The developments come as the city reports a rising number of coronavirus cases, recording 68 cases on Sunday, the most it has seen in three months. Most of the cases were considered to be locally transmitted, with only 7 without immediately identifiable sources. https://thehill.com/homenews/news/5...o-residents-who-test-positive-for-covid-19-in

And now for something completely different.. "Pandemic is Over" - Former Pfizer Chief Science Officer Says "Second Wave" Faked On False-Positive COVID Tests What likely triggered the Silicon Valley censor-mongers is the fact that a former Chief Science Officer for the pharmaceutical giant Pfizer says "there is no science to suggest a second wave should happen." The "Big Pharma" insider asserts that false positive results from inherently unreliable COVID tests are being used to manufacture a "second wave" based on "new cases." As Ralph Lopez write at HubPages, Yeadon warns that half or even "almost all" of tests for COVID are false positives. Dr. Yeadon also argues that the threshold for herd immunity may be much lower than previously thought, and may have been reached in many countries already. https://www.zerohedge.com/medical/p...officer-says-second-wave-faked-false-positive
This clown, Michael Yeadon, is a fringe nut case who makes continual false COVID claims. First of all -- he was never the Chief Science Officer at Pfizer - he was merely a Allergy & Respiratory Research Head from 2005 to 2011. He has been making all sorts of wild claims including that the U.K. was over the herd threshold (they are nowhere close) and a bunch of other nonsense while spewing all sorts of "natural herd immunity" and anti-lockdown fabrications. FALSE: Former scientific advisor to Pfizer Michael Yeadon claims that “the pandemic is fundamentally over in the U.K.,” and, “we now know loads of people had prior immunity” to COVID-19 https://www.poynter.org/?ifcn_misin...oads-of-people-had-prior-immunity-to-covid-19
https://www.aier.org/article/an-edu...alth-from-michael-yeadon-former-vp-of-pfizer/ From the American Institute for Economic Research article, Dr. Michael Yeadon is an Allergy & Respiratory Therapeutic Area expert with 23 years in the pharmaceutical industry. He trained as a biochemist and pharmacologist, obtaining his PhD from the University of Surrey (UK) in 1988. Dr. Yeadon then worked at the Wellcome Research Labs with Salvador Moncada with a research focus on airway hyper-responsiveness and effects of pollutants including ozone and working in drug discovery of 5-LO, COX, PAF, NO and lung inflammation. With colleagues, he was the first to detect exhaled NO in animals and later to induce NOS in lung via allergic triggers. Joining Pfizer in 1995, he was responsible for the growth and portfolio delivery of the Allergy & Respiratory pipeline within the company. He was responsible for target selection and the progress into humans of new molecules, leading teams of up to 200 staff across all disciplines and won an Achievement Award for productivity in 2008. Under his leadership the research unit invented oral and inhaled NCEs which delivered multiple positive clinical proofs of concept in asthma, allergic rhinitis and COPD. He led productive collaborations such as with Rigel Pharmaceuticals (SYK inhibitors) and was involved in the licensing of Spiriva and acquisition of the Meridica (inhaler device) company. Dr. Yeadon has published over 40 original research articles and now consults and partners with a number of biotechnology companies. Before working with Apellis, Dr. Yeadon was VP and Chief Scientific Officer (Allergy & Respiratory Research) with Pfizer.
