Okay, no news here and definitely not limited to California as we all know. Same story across America now. Signs stuck on the lawns everywhere saying that health care workers are heroes. Blue Angels or whatever flying overhead in formation to honor health care workers. Meanwhile health care workers are being rewarded by being laid off because we have trashed the healthcare infrastructure for years to come by cutting off revenue to the health sector. Idiots. Rural healthcare has been set back by a decade with all the marginal local and regional hospitals that have shut down. Who would have ever thunk they needed some revenue to survive. Idiots. California hospitals struggle financially after preparing for COVID-19 surge that never came https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...-covid-19-surge-that-never-came-idUSKBN2341NJ
Maybe this demonstrates the entire problem with the financial model of public hospitals in the U.S. They require money from elective surgeries for the majority of their income. These hospitals are not really "public" and put in place for the "public good". Other countries don't have this issue since their public hospitals are there for the public good. The hospitals are not dependent on elective surgeries to pay their staff. This gets into broader question about "capitalist" and "socially democratic" systems... and the trade-offs for each.
Alright, I can't go the full discussion right now but in regard to "these hospitals not being public." It is quite true that our health care system is dependent on a vast network of hospitals and private sector health care providers and they were all shut down by the government except for urgent/critical care. It is commonly accepted in this country by most- the lefties excluded- that much public good is also accomplished by supporting necessary services in the private sector. There are hospitals, clinics, health care providers, specialty care centers, etc that were not necessarily "put in place for the public good" by the government but support the public good nevertheless and yes they get paid for doing it. We have enough health care problems in the country without killing off the parts that were working. I continue to be aware though that the lefty business model for most sectors is the DMV. Aha! we have discovered that the health care system is generating revenues for non critical care services, let's snuff that out.
Y'all may recall when Trump was mocked for saying that UV light might have a role in fighting covid. Stable genius? Let the viewers decide. Using riboflavin, UV light reduces SARS-CoV-2 pathogens in plasma, whole blood https://medicalxpress.com/news/2020-05-riboflavin-uv-sars-cov-pathogens-plasma.html
We found a way to calm everyone the f@ck down while pretending to treat their COVID... Xanax, a common anxiety medication, might actually block coronavirus https://bgr.com/2020/05/29/coronavirus-treatment-covid-19-cure-study-carprofen-and-celecoxib-xanax/ A standard coronavirus treatment is still unavailable, although researchers have made significant progress at developing new protocols for existing drugs and adapting them for COVID-19. Promising new drugs and vaccines are also in the works. The search for a COVID-19 cure has prompted scientists in Spain to study existing meds and see whether they can inhibit the coronavirus’s ability to replicate inside the body. The researchers identified seven molecules out of more than 6,400 drugs, including Xanax, a widely used anti-anxiety treatment. (More at above url)
By undoing Obama’s nursing home regulations, Trump opened the door for the deaths we're seeing It is no accident that an explosion of COVID-19 deaths have happened in for-profit senior care facilities https://www.salon.com/2020/05/30/by...p-opened-the-door-for-the-deaths-were-seeing/
Okay, thank you Salon. And because fed regs were loosened and responsibilities were devolved back to the states in some areas, New York became adrift and did not understand by its own experts and regulatory requires that putting covid patients in nursing homes was not the best infectious disease control protocol? New York/Cuomo was the one that said that it was listening to and following the guidance from the "experts." But their actions were contrary to the specific and direct guidance that they received from the CDC. Andy appreciates all efforts to defend him, because he definitely needs it.
I am now convinced that someone hacked the gwb account. The old gwb would never post a salon article as evidence of anything. Salon is so insanely bias that all of the articles should be classified as fake news.
