surf you are like a broken record,is it possible that thru your marketing guy meetings that you have overheard someone with mega bucks, like a soros ,dismiss TA, and you took the ball and ran with it,because along with your baseless blind admonishments, you've shown that you know very little about the nuts and bolts end of the biz, jaime diamond may not use TA either, anymore than the president of PBS needs to know how to cook or build, before airing those shows...you do it everywhere, i wouldn't be surprised if you chased cornix away
Back from quite a break from ET (and from systematic trading as a whole). No other aliases, nope I don't play these games. Have to admit that my experiment of purely mechanical NQ trading didn't prove itself worth continuation. July 2013 ended with result of approximately -10%, which is not suitable result for a day trader to have in my view. But as scientists say: negative result is also a result. Now I continue to trade mostly CL (because it's the best moving market I found currently) in a "free" manner (not trying to be purely mechanical or purely objective, using TA in combination with whatever helps me to achieve results). Over time I hope to return to this journal with more trades to share when I feel it's time for it. That's it so far. P. S. Surf is banned!
TA .... well results inconclusive. -10 pct is within range of realistic scenarios but proves nothing. I would dump this method until starts working again. Working method scores results now. markets change, so does probabilities that sometimes flip around. thats why equity curve goes reverse. so you may have to go on painful path of finding new edge soon. Gypsy life I done this couple of times until convinced it is too hard this way and scalability is always problem.
Well it wasn't the edge itself it seems. Ironically, when I traded looser way (just took patterns, which "looked good" to me), trading always worked pretty well. Volatility also helped. Late 2008, then 2009 and approximately until the middle of 2011 were true glory days in Euro. So now I trade CL and enjoy the volatility of this instrument too. Puts me behind in grandiose plans of achieving huge scalability, but it moves... unlike SIFs. Dead time of NQ coincided for me with the sudden offer of a position in a family business I couldn't refuse not to betray interests of the family, so all together made me take a break from NQ and do part-time researching. It's more or less in that mode too now, just trade several contracts CL combined for myself and two friends in a way like "this setup looks good, let's take it". P. S. It's an interesting separate topic by the way, trading is still based on recurring patterns, but definitely works better (for me at least) with subjective component of microscopic nuances, often expressed like "feels good" included in the equation. Think mister Maestro covered that topic somewhat in his thread.
Feels good? In case you don't know Rodney King has taken over Surf's duties. She should be along to insult you shortly.
Anyone still believes Rodney is not Surf? I can't wait for some battle, missed ET actually, just was too busy for it.
Opinion seems to be RK is Mrs. Surf. She has been at it with Raskolnikov in the feedback section - still pissed Surf was banned.
I see. Well, probably being banned will be better for Surf himself. Taking time to re-think things away from continuous online communication can be a good thing too. Obviously Surf lost control in some cases, when could harm his professional reputation as well as emotional condition.
welcome back Cornix! I have given the entire debate quite a bit of thought. I know that I use resources that even I'm not consciously aware in my trading so I personally could never go mechanical. I think many statistics prove than not a "single" TA strat is more than 50-50 over time....so I think most TA traders use more than one indicator to initiate a position and it is the management of their trade that ultimately defines their skill. anyhoo glad to see you back and gl in the future.
That feedback thread has now been closed. It appears RK's constant resurrecting of the thread to discuss S@@f was frowned upon
