This has got nothing to do with free speech, abuse of power or whatever. Its all about having something to whine about. If the cop had left the sign alone, and unlikely as it may be, the sign fell and caused an accident, you (ratboy) would have been the first one posting here that the cops are dumb and should be held accountable for the accident.

I'm not fan of cops, but I think they handled this one pretty close to perfect. This sign appeared to be over twice as high as the rail (meaning if someone lets go it can tip over) it had what appeared to be metal posts at each end which could cause serious harm to say nothing of people dodging thing in their cars and causing accidents that way. Contrary to what Rat says, wind *doesn't* blow through the entirety of that sign (if it did it would not be seen), but rather only through the open portions. It's not the cops job to determine what would happen if a large gust came along at an inattentive moment. It's not the cops job to determine the extent of injury or chaos below in the event of a blowover or drop. The cops job is to simply eliminate the threat. I'm a big supporter of free speach -- there nothing about free speach that allows you to endanger another, not even a little. Well done officers.
