No, this is not being offered to ET. They actually charge for this. They offered a free combine to cool trader dude because he was one of the louder vocal critics and he agreed to give a fair evaluation. So they gave him a freebie to do the report. Now Michael did say something about doing an ET group combine but my impression was that, one, you had to pay for it. And two, it was basically anyone who wants to do the combine from ET, he will put them into a specific group so he can track the p&l specifically from ET. For example, Velocity Futures does this. They show all the p&l of all their profitable customers. And they allow group reporting where you can invite guys into your group to see your positions and your p&l. TST is not really targeting ET. What brought them over here was a few guys decided to slander them in public and they were not allowed to defend their company until they became a sponsor. Once they did, the threads discussing them became very very active. The only way to calm everyone down was to offer a free combine from one of the critics. They did that at the critics request. So that is how we got here. To be honest with you, I doubt even 1% of ET could pass the combine anyway. So I wouldn't say they are targeting this group. Not by a long shot.
My dear Surf, When a writer specifically addresses a person in the message, it is normal for the person addressed to read the message as intended for him. This paragraph is meant to serve as an example. Regardless, I will still attend a Surf fest in Vegas if you decide to hold it there in the future. I have lived in Manhattan while going to school there and make occasional trips, but the Trading Expos are hardly worth attending nowadays. Vegas is okay to visit once a year, so the Expos held there are tolerable. Cheers.
BTW, this is what the leader board looks like at Velocity. I think TST would do something similar except only for the accounts on ET.
Sorry, I won't be attending. I was just there in May and already made the rounds to various drinking establishments, including the Carnegie Club. Fabulous weather then and I was wearing my usual attire: jeans, tee and sneakers, and I was asked at the door if I had other shoes. My friends were all dressed up and I told the girl that we were looking to run up a tab over a thousand and had other venues to go to that night so it was up to her whether she wanted our business. We got seated up in the loft and a Sinatra impersonator was singing that night. We couldn't be as loud as we wanted so after a couple of drinks and cigars we left. Including $40/head for the show, the bill came out to $980-something for a party of 8. Tipped the girl $20 at the door on the way out as I like to keep my word. No doubt Manhattan is a great place. Vegas is fun too. The Expo is a waste of time regardless of the venue.
Sorry, misread that. Thought you still lived in NY. Yeah nobody goes to the expos, they go to the parties. The reason I assume for having Surf Fest at the same time as the expo is a lot of ET vendors are in the city for it and most of them are pretty cool people and fun to hang out with. And did I mention expense accounts? Oops, just did. Anyway, that's the reason for that.
Yup. I use to have an account there and use to watch the leader board every day. I would say about 5% being profitable was the norm. There were some days it got up to 10%. But that is just daily. Many that were up today were down yesterday and net net are probably down. Look, the facts are ugly, most guys don't make money. Velocity offers great rates, the best software, api access, access to worldwide markets. It's all there All except the profitability.
