I can even read Dutch, no problem with a translator... Just post the title or the link to it... if you can... ;-)
I was written 25 years ago way before internet ... I am not planning to scan it in for you ... stick to the english books I recommended you ...
everybody in this thread has been saying you are wrong several times ... when you are short gamma you lose on the deltahedge what you win in theta ... about five people have told you so by now ... but that message just doesn't seem to come accross and you keep repeating you are right ...
Right, sorry, let me respond with a little more detail, so that maybe you understand... Firstly, pls make up your mind whether you're a mkt maker/bank or something else. There is obviously a big difference. Secondly, if you actually think a tiny bit about what I said, you should conclude that I didn't argue that hedging can be used only by market makers. So I dunno whose argumentation you're referring to here, but it sure isn't mine. Finally, let me make my point very clear. Hedging in the context of liquidity provision (which is what mkt makers do) is what the article that you linked describes. The context for you or a non-financial company XYZ is very different, since you're price takers. This means that hedging, if you decide to engage in it, works somewhat differently. It doesn't imply that you cannot or will not hedge.
I used to work for one of the second biggest options market makers in Belgium ... you never heard of them, they are now part of KBC Securities ... don't know how I could 'proof' that ... you'd probably find ways to call me a liar again ... and that was the last from me ...
seems you only want yes people in your thread ... fat chance of that happening with the nonsense you tell ...
It is easy to prove: just scan a portion of your contract or addendum then which proves that you were allegedly a "market maker"... Can't you? Working in a bank as a desk-clerk, or as a simple trader, doesn't make you a "market maker", boy!
it was 20 years ago ... you don't really think I keep papers from that time just in case some nutjob on the internet might want 'proof' of that lol I never keep papers older than five years for that matter on anything ...
