We DO know it will be worse...simply reading the provisions of the law can easily tell us that..or haven't you been doing your research? just casually looking up insurance premiums has convinced you that it's some sort of improvement? No, the estimates are upwards of 100million+, not the 5% figure that they are desparately clinging to, in an effort at damage control. That one year employer delay is a deliberate attempt to manage the numbers from this fallout. Seriously, read some articles about how this affects the medical professionals, the out of network coverage issues, the ridiculously high deductables ON TOP OF huge premium increases, the financial pitfalls of expanding Medicaid coverage, etc, etc... The numbers of people who will be dropped from current insurance coverage and who will not sign up for the new insurance (at least in the first year) will be staggering. You just haven't been following this situation with any concern for the details.
I thought they should have just left things or alone or help groups from... or open up insurance across state lines. when I joined a big group my insurance for 6 people dropped by 25%. But, selfishly...if they went to single payer... that would have saved me a ton. (especially if they could cap the budget and not increase taxes...ha) It would have been acceptable to some businesses as it would have unburdened many large companies of large legacy costs. So I did not hate it. But, I am concerned it would screw doctors and the effectiveness of care. as far as what they passed . olbermann is right. this was insurance company care not health care.
Actually, yes we do know its going to be worse, its basic economics, if you add 30 million people to the healthcare role without adding any new doctors, prices go up and wait times go up, unless your one of those liberal jackasses who thinks you can get something for nothing. The fundamentals of the bill is to charge more for those who already worked hard and paid for their insurance in order to give it away to people who are too lazy to pay for it. So yes, if you are a person who works and pays taxes, you can say with 100% certainty that this bill is worse for you. The only people who can say it is better for them are those who dont pay their way to begin with. At the very least, if you are someone who breaks even on this plan from a monetary standpoint, well you now have to wait twice as long for a doctor.
I have nothing but contempt for either party. However, you would have to be completely delusional not to realize how disastrous this rollout has been. It's literally been a non-stop bloopers reel of idiotic quotes, half-truths and uncomfortable lies from just about every prominent Dem, with regards to the ridiculous propoganda used to try and market this turd. Nope, Piezoe, the next year will be the Dem's turn to take it on the chin.
See, even a leftist like Olbermann can call it straight. In fact, some of the most rabid leftist's I've ever come across see thru this farce as an even bigger rake by the insurance cos. than we had before. All we see around here are the usual suspects defending anything that their "team" can come up with...no matter how botched, how corrupt and how fiscally impossible the premise may be...at some point, they will come around. This thing will just be one screw-up after another.
I don't know how this law will work or if it will be changed for the better. But the idea of mandatory insurance does just the opposite from what you're saying, it forces people to buy insurance that is the opposite from what you said about giving it away to people who are too lazy to pay for it. It works with auto insurance and could work for health insurance too, just common sense and wasn't that a republican idea to began with.
LOL I know a woman that just will not shut up about fukushima, cell tower radiations, gmo's, JFK murder, and other conspiracy things... she has damaged frontal lobes from a black mold infection!
You seem to be confused pie hole. "We" were opposed even before the ACA was passed not because "we" had read it. But because of history and common fucking sense. There is no way to involve the federal government, add millions of uninsured, some with preexisting conditions AND have premiums come down. And just like "we" predicted it's turned out to be a cluster fuck^10.
Actually we do know it's worse. And unless you're living under a rock. So would you. NO, and apparently neither has anyone else. My comments are based on factual undeniable affects of Obamacare. I don't need to read 10,000 pages of BS to see it isn't working.
Bullshit the number of people who could afford insurance who simply chose not to pay, and ended up needing it was very small, now young people like myself who dont need insurance can simply eat the fine and buy insurance if something catastrophic happens. I havent been to doctor in 10 years why would i pay 500+ a month for insurance when i can just pay a 95$ fine? As it stood before i could have just bought a plan with a 30k deductible for less than a hundred bucks a month. If you take the 500 a month i would be wasting on healthcare, and i go for 10 years without it, and instead invest and make an average return of 20% per year it turns into 230k, i think ill take my chances and pay the fine for now, thx. Plus along with those people you are now going to have all the people with preexisting conditions added to the roles, as well as morbidly obese people, and smokers, who can no longer be charged more even though they choose to live a shitty lifestyle. You have no clue what is coming because you have never lived in a government run healthcare system. In canada the average wait time for an MRI is 17 weeks in the U.S. you can get in right away. My good friend just died of leukemia and when he got sick they couldnt even do the treatment in canada, they had to send him to seattle, the government covered his treatment but then he had to stay in quarantine while his bone marrow transplant took cause they were putting him on drugs to kill his immune system so it wouldnt block it. The cost to stay in quarantine was 1000 dollars a day and the government wouldnt cover it, he ended up having to sell his business, and he came home to canada early when he ran out of money, and ended up catching pnemonia and dying. Inevitably what is going to happen in the states with 30 million more people insured is we are going to have a 2 tier healthcare system, 1 for the top 5 percent where there will be little to no wait time at a much higher price, where you will need much more expensive healt insurance in order to have access to those doctors. And one tier for the other 95% of the country where wait times are going to be twice as long, and the government is going to deem what is and isnt necessary, the responsible middle class people who always followed the rules and paid their bills are going to see their healthcare coverage destroyed, and they are going to have to pay up to subsidise the leeches and unhealthy people. Sure some people are getting screwed with the present healthcare system, and i feel for those people but all obamacare does is shift around the people who get screwed, now the government has decided i should get screwed instead of the person with the pre existing condition, or the person who was too lazy to work and pay for their healthcare. Why if it wasnt fair for the person with the pre existing condition to have to pay more for healthcare is it now all of a sudden fair to stick me with his tab? All obamacare does is change whose paying. I have an uncle who needed a new hip and couldnt walk without it, he is 60 years old, because the government deemed it non essential it took them a year and a half to give him the operation, and in the mean time he rolled through most of his life savings because he was a contractor and he couldnt work until he got a new hip.
