As discussed earlier, it is complicated. I am not sure if that if he wins, that he actually wins. Depends on whether the republican party in Alabama has officially notified the state that he is no longer their nominee. If they have and moore got the majority of the vote then it will require another election where they will trot out luther strange again. Last I heard, the republican party had pulled the plug on funding but I have not heard whether they officially pulled the plug on him. It is hard to know some of this because Mitch is still conniving and trying to come up with his strategy. Ironically, mitch wants moore to win too, but only because if he is decertified by the republicans at the last minute but still wins then his election is void and it will create another special election. Nasty shit going on.

The Washington Post said Sunday night that Alabama Media Group (AMG) is rejecting a cease and desist letter from Moore and his attorneys. “You have accused AL.com of making ‘false reports and/or careless reporting’ about multiple subjects related to your clients,” said a letter from AMG’s attorney John Thompson of Lightfoot Franklin White LLC. “Your letter demands that AL.com retract and recant its prior stories and that it ‘cease and desist’ from any further reporting about your clients.” “AL.com hereby rejects your demand,” the letter said. “You have not explained how anything that AL.com has reported is untrue, inaccurate or erroneous, nor do you provide any support for your position.” (More at above url)
I'm not so sure they have the legal right to expel him for behavior which happened prior to being a senator. If he was already a sitting senator, absolutely. Also, it' s not like this info is coming out a day or two before the election. The people of Alabama have had plenty of time to digest all of it and make their decision. The citizens should decide who represents them, not the senate, and especially not trial and conviction by media mob. We shall see.
What is your apprehension about the senate’s legal right to expel a member? As I read it, a two thirds majority is needed - that’s it. Besides, these guys usually resign when the hearings are about to begin. Anyway, every leverage should be used to expel someone with his character.
In the current frenzied environment, does the Senate really want to start proceedings to expel a member over sexual behavior allegations. How many other Senators will face the same ethics panel after it is convened prior the vote? Will there even be enough Senators remaining to staff the panel much less carry out a vote once this ball gets rolling?
Eh, this is a lot more than “sexual behavior”. We are talking about minors. You may not make the distinction but I do.
And just how many more Senators will be accused of sexual misbehavior whether it is minors, boys, girls, inappropriate touching, tactless photos etc., etc., etc. in the current frenzy? Why don't we dig into their computer logs and search for porn urls while we are at it. For example let's take a look at what is happening with Franken. He is being used as a warning to Democrats and their media handlers that the right can also "Roy Moore" Democratic senators. And also rather than having four allegations all in one story, I expect the right will leak out a new allegation every few days -- keeping the story in the news -- and letting Franken suffer a demise by allegation after allegation. Do the parties in Congress really want to start a "war of attrition" over sexual allegations? An issue where I bet at least 75% of sitting representatives have dirt in the closets over.
Like I said I make a distinction when it comes to minors. If you don’t, I don’t think it’s fine, but it’s your prerogative. If this man is elected I will be contacting my senators to tell them I would like them to initiate and support his expulsion as soon as is possible. I would expect millions of Americans, mostly parents, to do the same.
