Conservative commentator: ‘Putin’s Little Helpers’ handed Trump the election

  1. Mueller proved ‘Putin’s Little Helpers’ handed Trump the election — Conservative commentator

Special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of Russian interference in the 2020 presidential election may be over. But, writes conservative commentator Rick Wilson for The Daily Beast, the fallout is just beginning.

“Americans now have confirmation for the history books of the most crucial in-kind donation to an American presidential campaign, ever,” Wilson writes. “We see in black-and-white the degree and depth of the Russian active measures, propaganda, and intelligence warfare efforts that were the secret sauce of Trump’s 2016 victory over Hillary Clinton. It wasn’t just MAGA or the Wall or celebrity bullshitting. An essential element of Trump’s victory was the work of Putin’s Little Helpers.”

“And we have confirmation that at this critical moment, we had an attorney general who put Donald, not America, first,” Wilson continues. “In this White House bedlam, Trump has been saved [by] his own ineptitude — with a big assist from Bill Barr — by aides and allies just brave or afraid enough to ignore his criminal diktats.”

Mueller’s report may not have directly charged the president or members of his family with a crime, Wilson writes, but it is still politically disastrous for him.

Trump’s allies, Wilson, notes, “They had hoped to turn the Mueller Report against itself — ‘no puppet’ style — to argue it exposed prosecutorial excesses and a conspiracy against Trump,” but instead the report was levelheaded and professional to the point of being unassailable. On the other hand, the report all but invites Congress to take the baton on allegations Trump committed obstruction of justice, and take it they will.

“Congress now gets its bite of the apple, and the hidden secrets of Trump’s 2016 campaign and his reign of misrule will continue to come into the light,” Wilson says. “Mueller’s obstruction section practically screams for Congress to dig deeper, and exercise their right to hold the president accountable for his actions, including — most certainly — abuse of the powers of his office.”

Wilson concludes by mocking Trump’s recent Game of Thrones meme mocking his political opponents for not securing criminal charges against him. “Never take a victory lap until you’re sure the race is over,” writes Wilson. “Trump hijacked the Game of Thrones font to tweet ‘Game Over,’ but it still looks more like Winter Is Coming.”

  2. Trump launches new rant about Mueller report in Twitter meltdown against ‘true Trump Haters’

On Saturday morning, President Donald Trump unleashed a tirade on Twitter, ranting about the “Angry Democrats who were true Trump Haters” and “highly conflicted Bob Mueller” who delivered the report on Russia, even as he simultaneously claimed that the report exonerated him:

    Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

Despite the fact that the Mueller Report should not have been authorized in the first place & was written as nastily as possible by 13 (18) Angry Democrats who were true Trump Haters, including highly conflicted Bob Mueller himself, the end result is No Collusion, No Obstruction!

    Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

The Fake News Media is doing everything possible to stir up and anger the pols and as many people as possible seldom mentioning the fact that the Mueller Report had as its principle conclusion the fact that there was NO COLLUSION WITH RUSSIA. The Russia Hoax is dead!

    Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

The end result of the greatest Witch Hunt in U.S. political history is No Collusion with Russia (and No Obstruction). Pretty Amazing!

  3. Ex-federal prosecutor rips into Trump’s ‘nonsense’ tweet that Mueller exonerated him: ‘He obstructed justice. Plain and simple.’

On Saturday, former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner scorched President Donald Trump for his most recent Twitter tirade about being exonerated by “highly conflicted Bob Mueller” and his “Angry Democrats” and that there was “no obstruction.”

“Nobody can accuse the president of tweeting accurately or truthfully. Everything he does is nonsense, quite frankly,” said Kirschner. “You can obstruct justice even if there is no underlying crime.”

“Let’s assume we’re all on a board of directors together, and the FBI is investigating wrongdoing by the board of directors,” Kirschner offered as an example. “Let’s assume that I then, I’ll be the fall guy. I start paying people off to lie to the FBI because I don’t want the FBI to look into and expose what we’ve been doing as the board of directors. And then the FBI concludes, you know what? There’s not enough evidence to charge any of these board members with crimes. Well guess what? I’ve still committed the offense of obstructing justice because I’ve paid off witness to lie to the FBI during an official investigation.”

“What Donald Trump did, and what has now been exposed, is he obstructed justice,” said Kirschner. “And there’s no such thing as ‘attempt to obstruct justice.’ Because obstruction of justice is defined as actually impeding an investigation, or attempting to impede an investigation. So there’s no attempt to — he obstructed justice. Plain and simple. The fact that others stopped him from doing it is not a legal defense.”

“And that’s why when the [Office of Legal Counsel] memo says you can’t indict a sitting president because you can impeach him, now that’s where we are,” Kirschner added. “You can’t say we’ve found ten crimes but we’re not going to bother impeaching him.”

  4. The astute here are savvy enough to see how the dynamic works with the lefties now.

It is not convenient for their position to argue that Mueller - with complete and total freedom and resources- did not find an actionable premise for prosecuting on obstruction- so they attack either Trump or Barr for concluding that there was not. Sure, like maybe someone should have appointed an independent counsel or something.

Oh, and in regard to "the former federal prosecutor" in the tard's post above, let's make that "Glenn Kirshner, current MSNBC legal analyst."

He is just another clown who has made big bucks predicting that mueller was going to send Trump to the big house, now he has to make himself relevant somehow by continuing to whine and be wrong.

  6. What about former U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade ? . ?

Ex-US Attorney brutally obliterates Bill Barr: He’s nothing more than Trump’s ‘protector’
“For future presidents, the question may be ‘where’s my Bill Barr?'”

On Friday, former U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade penned an editorial in The Daily Beast, raking President Donald Trump’s attorney general over the coals for obfuscating the contents of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russia and its implications for the president.

“I have been withholding judgment on Attorney General William Barr, believing that someone who has previously served in the Department of Justice as he did would respect the institution and the rule of law,” writes McQuade. “Barr confirmed my worst suspicions when he stood at the podium to discuss the release of Mueller’s report into Russian election interference. Instead of using the language of a prosecutor, Barr parroted President Donald Trump’s favorite talking point of ‘no collusion’ four times. And it got worse from there.”

McQuade specifically faults Barr for mischaracterizing Mueller’s findings on conspiracy. “The report stated that ‘the investigation did not establish’ conspiracy. Instead, Barr said that the special counsel ‘found no evidence’ that any American participated in the conspiracy to interfere with the election. These are two very different things. In fact, Mueller seemed to anticipate that some might misread his findings … He likely did not expect the person to misconstrue his findings would be the attorney general of the United States.”

McQuade also criticizes Barr for excusing obstruction of justice allegations by saying that “there is substantial evidence to show that the President was frustrated and angered by a sincere belief that the investigation was undermining his presidency, propelled by his political opponents, and fueled by illegal leaks.”

“A motive of frustration or anger does not excuse obstruction of justice,” writes McQuade. “In fact, most defendants who commit obstruction of justice experience frustration and anger. These motives are not exonerating, and Barr’s reference to them sounds like the kinds of excuses you might hear from a lawyer representing the accused.”

“When former Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from the Russia investigation, Trump was angry that he did not have a protector. He asked then, ‘where’s my Roy Cohn,’ a mob lawyer who used aggressive and legally questionable tactics to help his clients prevail,” McQuade concluded. “For future presidents, the question may be ‘where’s my Bill Barr?'”

  7. So Russia made some Facebook and internet pages to help Trump and its 24/7 news for 3 years.
Meanwhile 90% of American Media did everything possible to help Hillary and stop Trump.
That should be the real news

  8. What about U.S. Naval War College Professor Tom Nichols , a highly respected Conservative ? . ?

Trump’s ‘shills’ know he’s guilty as they cynically try to undermine the Mueller report: Conservative professor

On Saturday, U.S. Naval War College professor Tom Nichols, a Trump-skeptic conservative, tweeted a lengthy thread deconstructing the behavior of President Donald Trump’s loyalists in the wake of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russia.

Specifically, Nichols identified their desperation to headfake the media into believing the report is exonerating, and demand a mea culpa from reporters who implied otherwise. The problem there is that the report is, in fact, not exonerating. And, suggested Nichols, many of them are doing so because they know the media in fact got the president dead to rights, and are panicking:

They're from conservatives who really, really wanted to invalidate the entire MSM - as conservatives, who see themselves as anti-MSM insurgents, always do - and they thought the Report was their silver bullet. It wasn't In fact, it validated almost all of the MSM reporting.

Sure, there were clinkers, like McClatchy's "trip to Prague." But when your case against "the media" is something you pulled off a panel from CNN or MSNBC (and notice "the media" is never "Fox"), then you're admitting that you'd rather talk about anything but what happened.

The Russians attacked the election. The Trump campaign, right up to the top, thought that was awesome. They greeted it with "how can we work this" instead of "call the FBI." They lied, and lied, and lied some more. Amazing that the media got *any* of it right faced with that

Why are they freaking out? As @TheRickWilson said: "The most striking part of the last two days is how Donald Trump and his allies are acting like losers, more aggrieved, bitchy, and petulant than ever."

It's because they know. They always knew. And now it's in the open.
