I never said that, you're putting words in my mouth. You asked what bad things Harper inherited, so I answered that question and nothing more. The best way to tackle those challenges is to reduce government spending enough so that they can afford to fix the problems that the private sector cannot tackle on its own. There is no need to raise taxes to raise revenue when there is so much wasteful spending! Why do you insist on giving the government more of your hard earned money?
So, corporations have the right to be wasteful when getting government contracts, because, you know, they are capitalists...they are following the capitalist value of greed is good.
What do you consider to be wasteful government spending? Give me a few meaningul examples that amount to a chunk.
Do you read this before you posted? This sounds like something directly out of a Stalin speech! "Each according to their means and ability, for the collective good of society!" Fuck that bullshit. I work for myself, not some freeloading socialist that produces half the amount I produce.
Regulation and fair play are measures of cooperation for mutual long-term advantage. For you to respond to that post in this manner tells me that you are over the top and on the far side of Right. Understand that I disagree with either extreme. But your argument is an extreme response to a fairly measured remark.
Again, don't put words in my mouth. I never said all social programs are waste. But many are. Denial of this fact is naive. Why should I have to pay for someone else to go to university?
That is the fault of the government, not the corporation. The free market dictates that the contract goes to the lowest bidder. If the corporation wastes its resources, it goes bankrupt. That's at least how it SHOULD work, as long as the government doesn't use my tax dollars to clean up someone elses mess. Your post sounds more like an argument against government corruption than corporate greed.
$2 per vote for starters. Subsidies for the arts. Many of the government run healthcare initiatives. Not to mention the fact that every new government programs also creates a slew of bureacracy in the name of "this oversight committee" and "the whatchamacall it panel", etc. Just look at the number of public vs. private sector employees and the trend within.
You couldn't be more wrong. I consider myself fiscally conservative and socially center. My reluctance to pay for the mistakes of others has nothing to do with "extremism".
