The chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee blasted White House press secretary Jay Carney on Sunday, calling him a “paid liar” who is not being truthful about the scandal at the Internal Revenue Service.

“Their paid liar, their spokesperson, the picture behind, he’s still making up things about what happened and calling this a local rogue,” Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), said on CNN’s “State of the Union,” gesturing to a graphic of Carney on the set.

Issa’s committee provided CNN a transcript of an IRS employee interviewed under oath who said that it seemed as if the idea to single out conservative groups for additional scrutiny came from Washington. The Obama administration has maintained that local IRS agents in a single agency division have been responsible for the scandal.

“This is a problem that was in all likelihood right out of Washington headquarters,” Issa said. “We’re getting to proving it.”

Issa said the White House is not being truthful or forthcoming about the scandal.

“The president’s spokesman – spokesperson – is saying whatever’s convenient at the time. The story changes,” Issa said.

But he vowed his committee would get to the bottom of the scandal.

“What we have is people who have to come in and transcribe interviews. They’re saying under penalty of crimes that certain things are true. We have subpoenaed documents that would support that that they say emails went back and forth,” Issa said. “We will learn the whole truth.”

  2. This is quite obvious that it is coming from the top. They need to keep the pressure on the band of criminals, and get some empty jail cells ready.

Agreed, but are the congressional republicans up to it?

No. :( Nothing will come of this, and the tyrants will skate. Worst thing will be a changing of desks, meaning the thugs will wind up in another part of the government. No consequences whatsoever.

Have a little faith that something will be done and justice will be served. Without that we might as well start organizing an armed revolt.

I've got faith these tyrants will be ousted. However, from what I've seen of this corrupt, out of control administration, they get away with every bad act they do.

  7. Shit my jello pudding has more back bone than the collective republicans in washinton.

this carney really is so much more the liar than any previous guy or gal up there.

they used to struggle to spin with answers with may have been misdirections but they rarely if ever lied.

This carney jerk off lies so much he is now perceived as baghdad bob, he is a big joke. How will he lie today? He is taking down the credibility of all presidents with him.

Is it part of their strategy to disgrace the office?
Is it trendy for liberals to corzine?

I guess they feel the obligation to go out and tell what ever lie Obama tells them to say. It seems there is no one in this Administration with any moral dignity.
