This probably comes as a surprise to you, but Republican Chuck Hagel (Nebraska) introduced legislation via the Senate Banking Committee to strengthen and reform Federal oversight of Fannie, Freddie, and the FHLB way back in 2003.

His legislation was called the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act.

Unfortunately, the Bill never came up for a vote in the Senate because there was not enough support by the GOP -run Senate.

Why no support from the GOP MAJORITY run Senate?

Because Freddie Mac secretly paid a REPUBLICAN consulting firm called "DCI" $2 million to spend an entire year to kill legislation that would have regulated the GSE's.

Hagel and 25 other Republican's pleaded with Senate Majority Leader, Bill Frist ( Tennessee ) to allow a vote, but Frist didn't see enough support for the vote and the measure died at the end of the 109th Congress.

Interestingly enough, by the time that McCain signed onto Hagel's legislation as a co-sponsonor, the "DCI" effort to sabotage such legislation had already gone on for 9 months.

But leave it to jficquette to claim that the Democrats who were a minority killed off the 2003 bill to reform Freddie and Fannie.

It takes 60 votes to control Senate. Republicans had a majority but not enough to control as the democrats do now.

I fully expect this vid to run on Oberman tomorrow, him being a get to the bottom of things kinda' guy. I would also expect immediate congressional hearing with all the usual dem suspects answering for their part. Fat chance, eh? Instead will hear more about Limbaugh and change. Yep! Things they are a changing.

that maxine waters and barney frank are still in Congress and allowed to be spokespersons on this issue is an indictment of liberals and an indication that democratic politicians and their voters are far less intelligent than republicans.

It also show the complete disdain democratic congress people have for the truth and for the people of the U.S.

barney frank is a national tragedy and at the same time he is respected and admired by liberal democrats. The dems even let him be a spokesperson for their beliefs on cable news channels.

How bizarre is that?

Congressional Black Caucus.

I'd never heard of it until that video.

I looked up the history. Surprise surprise it receives taxpayer funding.

I can only imagine the screeching that would take place if there was a whites only congressional caucus.

Am I missing something here?
