But you were silent on his lie while being very active in defending him. If this was a pro Obamacare thread you would be the first one in to call it lies.
I have previously stated my opinions regarding ACA and the need for the U.S. to move a public plan similar to ones in Germany or the U.K. multiple times. I have cited the facts backing my opinions on healthcare when outlining my thoughts. There are drawback to public plans including long waits and rationing - which people need to understand & accept as part of any transition. A public plan which includes the ability to select a private plan option with better service for a little more cost is the best option for evolving the U.S. Healthcare system.
"I lot of people don't understand Health Care, but I do." ; "I'm a really smart person".; "No one knows more about health than I do"; We're going to replace 'Obamacare' with something wonderful.' -- Donald J. Trump
Well --- here are the points I have made previously. Until Trump and the Republicans have a plan that they are going to replace ACA with then they should not be eliminating ACA. ACA may have many flaws and was basically put in place as a giveaway to pharma, healthcare, and insurance companies but there needs to be a firm plan in place as a replacement before ACA is eliminated. And furthermore IMO Donald Trump does not understand healthcare. He is not a really smart person. And he does not have something 'wonderful' to replace Obamacare with. Fortunately the Republicans stopped Trump in his drive to eliminate ACA before the 2020 election with no replacement plan. Doing so, obviously, would have given the Democrats a huge (and very reasonable) talking point for the 2020 election.
Trump should come out for a full "medicare for all" plan, knowing that the republican senate will never pass it. That takes the issue away from the dems, plus it gives him another ground to argue for immigration restrictions. We can't be the health service for all of Latin America, although if you have the misfortune to go to an ER you will think we are doing that already.
Trump: I have this great, wonderful plan, the best plan ever, best people working on it... Public: Tell us about it! Trump:
Trump has moved forcefully to push unprecedented limits on government health assistance for the poor, trying to follow through on conservatives’ long-held goals for reshaping the health care safety net. That ambition has slammed into a brick wall amid the coronavirus — with the help of Republican states wary of cutting back health coverage for their poorest residents during a pandemic,” Politico reports. “Voters in even the reddest parts of the country are approving or weighing Medicaid expansions as the coronavirus tears through communities and historic levels of unemployment leave workers without health coverage. And Republican governors aren’t lining up for Trump’s two major moves to restrict Medicaid: work requirements for many adults and block grants to states instead of open-ended funding.”
