Computer standby issue

  1. What brand of OS do you have?

I may still have a few Dell OEM Vista DVDs laying around - if I can dig one up you are welcome to it - but you need a Dell machine for it to work.

    Gateway computer.

It is the Blue Screen of Death, did not realize this was so common.

Sleep mode allows for fast restart in most cases, that is why I prefer it.

  3. Didn't mean to say what brand of OS - meant to say what brand of computer (but i guess that was understood).

What BSOD error are you getting? Can you take a picture or post up the error code?

  4. On my HP vista from 2008, I have hard disks on never.

I always had problems that they would never wake back up and therefore Vista locks up.

I restored my system to the original point and BSOD is gone after standby and it runs much quieter now.

Now to reload one by one and see what the offender was...

None of my computers ever go on "standby". Why do I need it?

They are either all on, or off. Never in between.

Who cares about boot time? That's least of my worries with my hardware.
