Computer Slowdown

Discussion in 'Trading Software' started by Wetton, Jul 19, 2006.

  1. Yes those charts really slow up TWS. I don't bother with them at all.

Just opening 1 chart slows up the computer. I've got 512 MB memory on a 1.7 GB chip.

Just waiting on the Vista box to upgrade to 2-4GB memory.

The "IB charts" remain the area needing the most improvement. Albeit not that charts should be a priority.

  2. def,

What is "open source java code"?
Java is MOST CERTAINLY NOT OPEN SOURCE. It's PROPRIETARY software.

Could you please clear this up?

my error on the terminology. the code for the charts is based upon open source code. it's been mentioned by programmers on these boards (if you do a search I think you would be able to find out more)

  4. Def is referring to the JFreeChart charting library written in Java which is open source (GPL license)

If most modern processors are overkill for the average trader, then why is it so ungodly important to save "every single cpu cycle"?
