i haven't tried pulling the vga card but will. i pulled the ram and reset them but still same problem. ran adaware and spyware but no fix yet. oh by the way, i did a clean install with the hard drive starting from scratch. if vga card resetting doesn't work...maybe the motherboard is messed up? well, thank you again for all the info. all of you have been a tremendous help.
