Dell workstation periodically rebooting all by itself. W2k pro 512MB RDRAM Have checked for viruses dont see anything running dont recognize. Any ideas? Frustrated. mktsurf
I got the same problem a year ago. My problem was solved after I found that part of the Motherboard was touching the case (shortcut? - I believe thats the english word for this thing).
it can also be some hardware conflict. My new PC was doing that (Win XP). Took out the DVD Writer. Not a single lockup, crash or reboot since then. Did you check the system event log to see if any errors are reported?
It's usually a hardware issue (since bad vid drivers tend to lock-up, not randomly reboot). Either a faulty memory chip, a hairline crack in the motherboard, or some intermittent short.
My Computer shuts down every now and then and i finally attributed the problem to the computer overheating.
Thx for the help. Are several error messages under system log and application log looks like its related to ZA Pro somehow. mktsurf
