It is not painful if you are a good programmer (in the top 10%). And yes i wouldn't do for do it for less than $100 an hour either. And it is not the only we work do. It is one of our legacy system. But i find our average programmers are not up to the job of doing any fixes or new additions to it. I would rather work on that legacy bit of code than build mind numbing CRUD web apps.
