Compensation for traders at top firms?

  1. 80 * $12.50 = $1000? Gee, ya think?

Yeah, I can do the math. The reason I asked iiphos was what he was trading was because he was talking about taking one "tick" from a contract that had a 5-7 "tick" daily range.

So I wanted to be sure we were talking about a real "tick" and not a "point". For the ES this might sound about right only if he meant "point" rather than "tick".

Hence the question about what he was trading and how many contracts.

OIC. And how much margin you have to put on for 80 ES contracts? I know I can go to the CBOT/CME website, but I'm too lazy.

Now contrast that with the amount of money in equities to make a $1000.. Well, I guess it's not a really valid comparions sinc eit's kinda apple to oranges...

SInce in stocks, you have have 5 stocks/1000 shares per position and take a 20cents move out of each for a total of $1000 or some combination like 30cents, or 50 cents.

Today, I tried to hold longer than usual - 25-30minutes instead of the usual 30second-1min scalping and lo behold I could pull 30-50cents out of a move. Feels good.

Maybe it's possible, but you gotta be patient...
