Comparison Blog - In search of full automation + code building

Discussion in 'Trading Software' started by MarketCoding, May 11, 2017.

  1. It seems that there is a disconnect between great software that allows code building and those that allow automated trading. Code building is very different from just being able to accept code. Take Thinkorswim for instance. This software provides an exceptional code 'builder'. but doesn't really support full automation, where Tradestation for instance, provides fully automated trading but does not have a code builder.

I haven't been able to put my finger on a term that really defines what TOS is lacking in terms of automated trading, because it will let you automate 'some' aspects of trading but only eight times, as that's the built-in limit.

What term defines true automation that makes a product like Tradestation so vastly different from Thinkorswim?

The end goal is to find a package that truly has both features, and has the support to back it?

I am blogging about this topic here in an effort to help me and others do a more in depth comparison.
