The money I lost because of Qcharts' crappy data last November was more than 2.5x the price of Qcharts.
Anyway, I trade at a prop firm and the amount I am getting charged for eSignal is about the same as what I was paying for Qcharts.
    Cheers.

    lojze,

This really depends on what you are needing from eSignal. eSignal monthly prices start as low as $49/month. For a breakdown on prices, please visit this pricing page. We'll feel we have the most competitive products around, especially considering the reliability of our service and award winning products. If you haven't tried eSignal out before or it's been awhile since you've seen our products hands-on, I would suggest trying us out on a 30-day risk-free trial.

    RB,

I may be mistaken, but you maybe possibly be referring to our Standard Charts? Our Advanced Charts likely have the flexibility you're looking for. Below is an example of a Daily Candlestick, with 3MA's, a few trendlines, an Advanced Get MOB S/R line, MACD, Stoch, and a Volume study w/ and Volume MA overlayed.

  4. yes except the hotlists dont work with Esignal(well a few basic ones do) and the hotlists are one of the best features of QCharts for stock trading.

    Jay F.,

Can you please comment on the number of bars per chart... QCharts fits a lot more bars per chart (same period, same windows height/width) than eSignal...

Also, eSignal's list of leaders... I wish I had at least a listing of 52 weeks highs/lows... isn't this offered because eSignal wants to sell their scanning product???

The number of bars display on an Advanced Chart is varied based on the compression of the bars and the width of the chart. Below is a Continuation Chart for the e-mini S&P 500, and there is ~400 bars on this chart. Please note that there's no alteration made to the compression of this image... just a straight screenshot from eSignal 7.6.

  7. Maybe I could suggest to use Pristine ESP basic free subscription for eSignal. Since some week this product is available for eSignal and you have the hotlist integrated with eSignal. Hope this could be helpfull for you.

  8. Jay,

Specifically I'm referring to the shape of your bars in your bars charts. Your candles are fine because they have an outline, but if you compare the shape of your bars to ensign or tradestation bars, your bars are not as easy on eye. In fact they are quite difficult to view.

Particularly the horizontal open and close bars are too fat, which makes it difficult to tell if a new bar has opened at the same price as the close of the previous bar. Compare them side by side and see for yourself.

Also, with Ensign and Sierra chart, you have the ability to colour certain bars, like inside and outside bars different colours. This can be done using tick box functionality, without having to write a script. Not everyone wants to write a script for this type of simple functionality that you should be able to do on the fly.

Im not referring to indicators of any type.

In an effort to better understand what traders are looking for I wanted to follow-up on Runningbear's post. Below is a comparison of an Ensign bar chart (from their website) to an eSignal bar chart. I used the Advanced Chart Toolbar's "Increase Bar Width" icon to try to match the bar shape in Ensign's chart, and it seems to be pretty close. RB, could you clarify how you would like to see the eSignal bars improved? Is it the horizontal length of the open and close lines that you would like increased?

Regarding the coloring of the inside and outside bars, this can be done with one of the EFS files (Dunnigan Bars.efs) found in our EFS Library. Just download and apply the EFS to your chart, and then edit the colors as needed under Chart Options --> Edit Studies.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

  10. As you can see, the ensign bars have a thinner horizontal bar than the vertical bar. In esignal, the thickness is the same. i personally find the ensign bar easier to view. particularly when trying to determine if a bar has opened at exactly the same price or a different price to the previous bar close.

When you have have thick open and close bars, sometimes the price of the open of the new bar can visually appear to be at the same price as the previous close, when in fact there is a tick difference. The thinner open and close bars help to reduce this problem.

In Sierra chart, you can actually adjust the width of the horizontal bar to make it smaller or longer, which is also handy.

Personally I would like esignal to have the functionality to adjust the thickness and width of the horizontal bar shape.

Call me a Bar Nazi, but when you stare at the things for 16 hours a day, these little things become a big deal. :)

Thanks for having a look at it for me Jay
