There is R&D and then there is R&D. To me spending billions on R&D to figure out how best to convince us to buy on Amazon or target ads so we can vote for a candidate is just not the same as spending on R&D to find a cure for cancer, or to build a faster computer or how to survive and thrive on Mars....
