  2. So China is an example of a communist country, right? Still is, right?

Soviet Union and the countries of the Warsaw Pact, obviously, are another such example. North Korea, etc. Is that what we're referring to here or is there a larger set?

martinghoul legitimately broought up the idea you can't have an argument with agreed upon definitions.

So I am sure we agree leaders corrupt communism as they corrupt was was say 1950s or american capitalism.

In the west it seems every where there is success there is a business owner wanting more customers and workers and a democrat trying to tax it and turn them into free ice cream voters.

In communist party as the the economic situation eventually becomes dire because of the almost impossibility of efficient and noble command of the economy... more and more resources become inefficiently used.

So yes... I will call the ussr communist. The eastern black communist and old china communist. Yugoslavia was also just coming out of communism when I visited but at the time is is was more mixed.

Current china seems to be a hybrid.

I think he's had you off ignore for a long time. He's realized, as I have years ago, that having someone on ignore doesn't stop them from making you look like a complete jackwagon. It doesn't silence them, it only puts your fingers in your own ears.

I'd rather engage someone and make them look/feel silly. I think he feels the same.

  7. I don't really understand everything that you're saying here, jem...

However, as long as we're talking about China, I think we need further clarification. China was Communist and poor and inefficient etc. However, at some point, while remaining Communist, it managed to turn its situation from dire to not so dire and it continues on that path even today. For instance, the ratio of China's GDP per capita to that of the US went from below 1.5% in 1993 to 11.3% in 2011.

Does that mean that communism can be good sometimes and sometimes people can actually become less poor with communism?

I was typing too fast as I was watching a position.

so I will give the short version...

agreed, we need to define terms to debate intelligently.

it is hard to fine pure capitalism or communism.

But, I call the USSR and the Eastern block communist
