I have a retail account at TDAmeritrade. I've kind of been sleeping on it lately and didn't even know what I was paying in commision. I spoke to the representative and he told me I'm paying $7/sotck transaction and $7/option transaction +.75 per contract. This seems pretty steep. Especially the .75 per contract on the options. I've been actively trading options. What should I be shooting for? What are competitve rates? Thanks, John
it matters how many trades you make a quarter or month. If you make a lot of trades the commissions going to be really low and if you dont it will be high.
I had2 IRA accounts with TD. I transfered one out and the second will soon follow. Optionshouse does not charge per contract fees.
That recently changed. something like $9 + 0.15/option I use OH now for options rather than TD. Though I like TD's option level 2 quotes better than OH's.
If you trade a decent bit and have over $10K, Interactive Brokers would probably be your best option. For stocks $0.005/per share and $1 minimum and for options $0.75/contract with a $1 minimum also. http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/accounts/fees/commission.php
