I am a daytrader at assent (ANdover). Currently, we are using AT Financial but the firm is rolling out esignal beacuse AF is phased out in MArch 2004. We feel that AT is really great and catered to rapid-fire traders. I heard that Thompson One (the new version of AT since AT Financial was bought by Thompson one) also cannot match AT capability. It is a pitty. Many of us at Assent would prefer to sat with AT if we have the choice. However, I would like to post the following suggestion for Esignal based on my experience and feedbacks from other colleagues. This would make esignal great for daytraders. With regard to charting capability, I believe Esignal doesb't have the following capability and would be very good if thet can add this crucial features: 1. The ability to link chart to News Window directly So that we can look up a chrt of a prticular window and the news in one click and then decide the trade immediately. 2. The ability to use + or - key on the keyboard to zoom in and out of a chart window 3. With current Esignal once we set a chart to zoom in a particular area, the setting always goes back to the original. Many cases, we need the chart to remain in that layout to view other stocks. 4. The ability to zoom the chart area or study area only by double clicking mouse and then return to the original window by double clicking again. With Esignal we need to remove study window first to look only the chart area and then need to insert it back to get the study area again. 5. The ability to link chart with a quote window ( In AT Financial you use Import script File to link a chart with a quote window) and then you can use arrow key to see the chart of each symbol within the quote window. Thanks and would appreciate very much your response
Thank you for the feedback. We are very interested in these comments as well as any others of this type. We realize that there will be many AT users looking for a replacement system and want to accommodate as many of their unique features as possible. It might also be helpful to contact the support group through LiveRep as you come across additional differences because several of these things are already possible and you may just need to be shown how they work in eSignal. 1. This will be added to our development list. We're in the process of redesigning our News retrieval piece of eSignal and will be sure to make it possible to link to other window types. 2. This is already possible through our Keyboard Customization in the latest version of eSignal (ver 7.5). It basically involves mapping the chart increase and decrease spacing to the +/- keys. You may want to check out this demonstration movie as it may help in setting this up. 3. Staying focused on the same zoomed in area while changing symbols is difficult because of the fact that different symbols can end up taking different amounts of chart space for the same time period, but we'll see if our engineers can come up with a way to get close to this feature. 4. With this one are you trying to have the specific panel take up the entire size of the window with the double click and then have the window go back to it's original configuration with a second double click? If so, we'll see what we can do. We already have an action assigned to a double click, but might be able to do something by double clicking on the top divider of each panel similar to double clicking on a title bar in Windows applications. If you're trying to describe something different, please let me know. 5. We do our linking a little different, but it's possible to do several things to arrow through a symbol list in the charts. You can get more information from the support group, but you can link a quote window to a chart and then use the arrow keys to go through the quote window. Since we don't want random scrolling to be a burden on linked windows, you would have to hit the enter key between each symbol change. The idea would be to use the arrow key to highlight the symbol to be linked and then hit the enter key to send the symbol to the linked windows. The other way to do this is to create a symbol list in the main link field on the eSignal toolbar and link that to the chart. In this case, you would just need to scroll through the symbols without the need of the enter key. More on Symbol & Interval linking can be found at url=https://esignaltraining.webex.com/esignaltraining/tool/docshow/enter.php?AT=Show&Type=Playback&ClientName=webex&FileName=http://esignaltraining.webex.com/seminar/18902/play/335572769/74_linking.wrf&Rnd=497561627]this video tutorial[/url]. Please let us know if you have any additional ideas or questions.
=============== Good reliable service mostly however; why does my SPY chart print out 3''by 6'' on a 8.5 by 11.5 paper???[supposed to print most of 8.5 by 11 inches, usually does] [1] adjusted my borders to 1''; still needs help. [2] Not covered in instructions and have printed many correct size charts in the past. [3] Also info box printing open, high low close price printed strangely half the 3 by 6 inches on SPY chart.; so actual size of chart was 3''by 3'' Try to answer here ;couldnt be that complex .
murray, There could be a number of factors that may be causing this, and instead of asking questions back and forth over the course of many posts, I would suggest contacting our support department either via phone or LiveRep. They should be able to troubleshoot this problem much more effectively than we can on the boards.
Hope i get to keep doing business with you however ; we can get 20 minute delayed charts & end of day charts for free. Not sure i will continue paying you if you cant fix it soon; not sure i'll wait 24- 48 hours as your impersonal email just said. Real tic has excellant customer service & toll free line .
------------------------------------------------ Jay; Not likely this is a problem unique to me which is a reason to post here; Jay fortunately for esignal that esignal prettty much reliable on 30 minute candlecharts & longer because lots of traders ARE NOT going put up with with 48 hours to fix a problem. Can get 20 minute delayed , end of day charts for free; & a ''live computer rep'' earlier in the year left much to be desired.
My apologies for sounding impersonal; that was certainly not my intention. I was trying to point you to the most effecient way to solve the issue. If you would prefer to solve this through the boards (i.e. directly with me,) then lets move our discussion off the main forum into Private Messages. Please PM me with the following information. - Your Operating System - Printer - eSignal Version
Jay, I had Esignal off and on for about 3 years. The last version I had was 7.2. I ended up going back to ErlangerQuote simply because of the funtionality with the market minder or quote windows which ever you wish to call them. In Erlanger I can import a stock list and add columns with indicators the can give alarms if I ask it too. NeoTicker has a qreat quote window with indicators set up too. What I could never understand is why Esignal did not start the upgrade process 2 years ago with developing the quote sheets and the ablility to scan and sort on indicator values rather then the efs functions. Jay, I guess the reason is the way Esignal dishes out its data with the symbol limits. Jay if you could just duplicate Erlanger's funtionality, quote sheets, etc with your data and efs functions then Esignal would pretty much rule the world. John
John, I sincerely appreciate your feedback. I know this is something our Development Team wants to do in the 8.x series. However, I'm unsure on a time frame for this as we are a good distance away from that goal. I agree... studies on a Quote Window and alerts on those studies with eSignal's data would be an amazing combination.
I had Esignal and closed my account because of the lack of this functionality. Scanning is essential to me. When will the version 8 be available? Is there even an approximate release date? I would love to Esignal which is definitely the best feed I ever tried. DT1
