I may be naive, but I don't think we are going to be Zimbabwe, Chris. There are a lot of reasons behind this. If we are destabilized in any way that is significant, it would bring the Eurozone and China down with us. With regards to China, we buy all their shit. The US is the first domino. Everyone knows this, and will keep that domino up by any means necessary. We are not Greece, Italy, or even Russia. We fall, all fall.
No, we're not going to be Zimbabwe. It would never get that far. But that was, what...11 million percent at it's peak? All it takes is inflation to be in double digits here, and people will no longer be able to afford anything but basic staples. That will be enough to get the engine moving.
We have had double digit inflation before, we survived it. I think you are at least 30, Chris, so I will not talk down to you, but think back to the Ford years. We were getting hammered. The numbers are there, but the interpretation of those numbers is all that matters. No one on earth can afford to be predatory towards us. Deals will be made, or wars will be fought, it is that simple.
I know you are speaking from a very limited context here but the above statements of yours as world history proves are patently silly.
Wow, I so knew someone would step in and use a Hitler reference, which is why I qualified my statement with the "election" comment. As a result of election not going their way. Please stop trying to nitpick me. Unlike those on the forum you may be used to going after, I actually think about what I type before I do it.
You made a blanket statement with which I disagree and I voiced it while still validating your context (that I assumed ) you meant. I don't think I was unfair at all. *Hitler wasn't elected ? that's news to me.
Hitler was elected by a people who were desperate. The Allies created Hitler. The Treaty of Versailles was so onerous, that we put Germany in a corner. So, yeah, Hitler was elected, but with an asterisk.
