Wow, that would be unbelievable to see a 70 handle on that. You think that will be the day to get long, usually the VIX likes to spike to 30-40 range before people start to consider enough fear in the market to buy which looks to be happening sooner than later.
50 for the vix used to be 'resistance'.. however it blew passed that in 2008, yahoo finance is saying high of 90 for 2008.. someone once posted that the VIX high in the crash of 1987 was well above 100..
It peaked in March around 31 and then fell off pretty hard, going to be interesting to see if today or tomorrow is the high for the VIX before it comes down.
