The simple fact of the matter is that HRC is the by far the most conservative candidate in the race on issues of real importance to the Economic and Security Elite. Her positions on trade, interventionism, corporate cooperation with government, et cetera is perfectly in line with most moderate Republicans. She is getting a pass because she is the safest candidate from an establishment point of view. If she were running against Bush, Kasich, Rubiio, Romney, or McCain, Comey's press conference, even without criminal charges, would have finished her off. Remember, she is leading a racist, totally unhinged, game show host (literally) by all of 4 points in the RCP average of polls. That is almost within the margin of error, same as "Stay" was in the Brexit referendum. Pretty amzing.

All that said, because of the Republican Party's decision to nominate a game show host, I will be voting for a woman who has proven she can't be trusted to handle our nation's secrets with care if left to her own devices. Sad state of affairs.

While I agree with most all of your assessment regarding the current state of political affairs, I cannot agree with your conclusion to vote for Hillary. You make a more compelling argument to vote third party. Yes, I know in doing so that is more of a protest, throw away vote, but at least I'm not co-signing the establishment bullshit. Yeah, I will suffer the consequences just like everyone else, but this indisputable fact remains the same. Regardless which one of these numbskulls gets elected, the country will continue to circle the drain at an accelerated rate. No way this turns out well.

As I recall we nominated the kind of candidate you approve of last time and he wet his pants when the game was on the line. No thanks, we've tried that too many times. We supported Romney, McCain, Dole, the endless Bushes, et al in the name of party unity even though a lot of their positions sickened us. You and your crowd of NeverTrumpers are too precious to get your hands dirty however. If a candidate isn't "your kind" of conservative, why, you'll just support Hillary. That'll teach us a lesson.

No doubt you're rich enough that finding a good lawn guy and house maid is more important to you than the future of the country. Your mistake is assuming that Hillary will continue the status quo. She has 40 years of feminist hard left anger built up. She won't spend her time playing golf like Obama or getting blowjobs like her husband did. She will be feverishly working to change our country in ways you won't recognize.

yes, in a bad year there may only be two poor candidates and intelligent people choose the lesser of two evils across parties. Only the gullible still hang on to the loud mouthed and dangerous demagogue. Trumpf remains unelectable even for most in the Republican party. Only the stupid don't understand it and steadfastly try to convince the world one must vote by party affiliation not by candidate.

What Richter quoted was legal opinions by legal experts. If you find other legal experts who oppose this view then link directly to them and we can talk. At least the discussion will be on a higher quality level than having to base our discussion on the usual propaganda papers from the shooting range.

First, Trump is not a "game show host." He's the head of a multibillion dollar empire that he built largely himself. He's clearly an egoist and he's had his share of failures, but he has also built a brand and considerable assets.

I understand that Trump and his style turn a lot of people off. I play golf and I couldn't imagine joining one of his clubs. The only thing that has changed is the amount of money they grub for. They have no shame, no ethics and no boundaries.

Hillary has government experience, but she has a depressing record of failure and poor judgment in that service. What did she do as Secretary of State that would possibly justify elevating her to Commander in Chief? She was dead wrong on every major decision, whether it was undermining Mubarek in Egypt, overthrowing the Libyan government, undermining Israel, ignoring ISIS, mishandling our exit from Iraq, etc etc. She lied about Benghazi both to the American people and to the face of the mother of a brave man who died there after she and Obama vetoed a rescue mission. What kind of monster could do that?

There are a small number of overriding issues in this election. One is immigration, both from the south and from muslim refugees. If you want more, a lot more, vote Hillary. The other is trade deals. If you want more of the same, again Hillary is your candidate. Finally is the Supreme Court. If you want more Sonya Sotomayors and the like, vote Hillary. Trump has promised to have his nominees approved by the Federalist Society. Again, clear choice.

Best piece written on this site without copy/paste in a long time. Respect and also respect for painting a probably very accurate picture of the current state of affairs. It's a depressing read but it should be depressing because reality in politics is depressing at the moment.

What's the difference with the victims now, their color? If remaining open to the world means sacrificing the jobs of low skilled workers, I don't really care. Is that politically incorrect enough?

Just as the Democratic Party has been taken over by inefficient, special interest groups, the Republican Party is being taken over by inefficient interest groups, who just happen to be white, so I guess I am supposed to feel okay about it. At least the Democratic Party, which I have never supported in a national election, are nice enough to throw some bones to the people who without question are being left behind. The current Republican nominee wants to change the whole dynamic, and he has no idea about the consequences.

Goodness, how deluded can someone be about Trumpf...you are the dream Republican party supporter: loyal to the party line till death us part, utter hatred for anyone Democrat, articulate enough to share your thoughts with the world. And yet too naive to see through this clown called Trumpf whose biggest accomplishment in life is a TV show that starrs him as main cast, a beauty contest, and a few office towers. All else he mismanaged, destroyed, or has let gone bankrupt. And how many failed marriages does he have again? Such garbage!! Trump sees that the border can either be controlled by the US gov or MS13. He looks and wow, MS13 controls the border! So he points out the stupidity of the people that allow that.
