The update is that this is/was nonsense as I said back on 11/04/08. COMEX gold stocks as of 01/06/09 are still 8.5 million oz of gold (2.8 million oz of registered gold and 5.7 million oz of eligible gold). The gold is still there and hasn't gone anywhere.
