I'll never forget Columbus day 1983 (I think, coulda been '82) when the CBOT bond pit was open while the New York Treasury market remained closed. Rich Dennis sold 5000 bond futures into an illiquid holiday market and took bonds down a full point. The next mornings WSJ had a derisive comment in their Credit Markets section saying to the effect that Bonds may open "artificially" lower because of selling in futures the prior day by a large soybean trader. Bonds busted another 4pts the remainder of the week......
