You going to pay for all these military projects ? You'd think Americans would have learned by all the failures you have racked up.
So what is Columbia's leading export again? Hey, Trump is putting tariffs on coke, y'all. Price on the street gonna rise. Trump heaps tariffs on Colombia after it refuses migration deportation flights https://www.reuters.com/world/ameri...t-allow-us-planes-return-migrants-2025-01-26/
You will he killed one day. They know who you are. Don't take it personally. They know you don't always take the pills.
There are a LOT of Amercians in Colombia without legal status. At least ten thousand at any one time. Now where is my "I'm not American" tshirt..
Funny thing is, cocaine costs Colombia a fortune. It contributes a fraction of a percent to GDP. Sure it's produced here and some below subsistence farmers survive off it but the profits from US sales don't come back to Colombia. They are laundered and invested in America, why would anybody bring more than the bare minimum back here? Colombia is however a new NATO partner country and has leverage other countries don't have. I doubt Petro will stand up to Trump but he is in a perfect position to uncover Trump's drug trafficking past when he ran the casinos.
Yeah, I know what you are pointing out about cocaine and Columbia is true. The previous narco war in Columbia was also a painful and unfruitful period for the country. Sadly most Americans primarily associate Columbia with cocaine these days -- which is an undeserved reputation. Yet useful for mocking Trump's proposed tariff.
Its deserved however what most Americans don't realise is that Colombia has a substantial real economy and if cocaine disappeared tomorrow it would be a net benefit. Colombia is a lot bigger than Texas 1.64 times the size. It has a LOT of what the world needs. Most Amercians who come here have a very big jaw drop because the cities are so much more developed that they imagined. A lot of it is recent and much because Venezuela is fucked so all that investment and talent came here, no different to how the USA prospered from Europe's misery after WWII. The USA coming off tariff driven great depression had a lot of reasons to think fondly of WWII as it resulted in a huge boom. The US has a very different lesson from the Nazis to the Europeans, Nazis make you rich baby.
Not great, MAzis do like to dehumanise. They are not legally criminals and I'm fairly sure a whole plane of handcuffed passengers is a major flight safety violation. Trump seems out to really piss me off. I'm Danish/Irish/technically Amercian but will swap for Canadian, I live in both Panama and Colombia. Whats he going to do to insult Ireland? I guess that's later in the week.
