  3. This video is more for the FOXNews crowd. I'm not surprised Celente was in it.

A repost of a repost of Gerald Celente, Crash of 2010:

In a September 2000 Parade magazine profile by Michael Ryan, Celente was quoted as saying, "We're not going to have significant inflation or recession for the foreseeable future."

At the end of 2005 he claimed the next year would see a popular movement for some US states to secede. No such movement emerged, and a year later instead he predicted a trend toward "civility" and "healing" in the country.

He predicted that in 1994 a major trend of rising "ubiquitous" crime in US cities would begin. Instead, according to FBI figures, US violent crime rates declined every year for a decade and property crime diminished to levels well below that in 1993, when he made that prediction.

In 1997 he said that 1998 would see a "mad cow" stock market of unprecedented volatility and ultimately a large negative correction. The 1998 market was indeed more volatile than in immediately prior years, but it was hardly on an unprecedented scale and the year in fact enjoyed substantial net gains on indexes such as the S&P 500, which rose by almost 27%, in contrast to the 25% to 35% drop he envisioned.

For 2006 he said that US exports would suffer due to negative publicity resulting from Hurricane Katrina. However, exports of all goods, and specifically of consumer products, which presumably would be most affected given his reasoning, increased by roughly the same real-dollar amount in 2006 as they had in 2005.

In 1992, at a time when trade reforms were much in the news, he claimed there would be a "another Great Depression" due to trade barriers and protectionism. By late 2001, Celente opined that there was greater than a 50% chance of a massive international depression chiefly due to excess production, although ironically also the presence of markets relatively free of trade restrictions.

    ----------

Thornton Mellon once said, "If you want to look thin, hang out with fat people." Now you see why Celente appears on FOXNews.

Over just a 2 year period from December 2007 to 2009 8.3 million jobs were lost or 6.1% of total jobs. 1 year later in December of 2010 the government spent 4.6 trillion dollars on bailouts, stimulus programs and other gov spending. This resulted in 1.1 million jobs or .9% of total jobs being recovered. That is over 4 million dollars spent for each job created.

    I couldnt believe this

  6. I realize education is very important , but the video does have a good point. College has risen 6% a year and textbook companies are sodomizing the kids. Anyone with a pulse can get a student loan which is detrimental to this country. Let's get an art degree with gov't loans ! Most kids don't even know what they want to major in when they go to college.

I agree if one has a well thought out career plan and knows exactly what they want to do, then college is a good choice. I went to college for two years and dropped out. Mostly because my self studying in subjects that interested me far outweighed going through the "generals" that are so pointless. I knew I could make a lot of money with or without it because there was no way in hell I was ever going to work for anyone but myself.

The video has some truths to it. The textbook business is a total scam. Does math really change from year to year? No. Why then do professors tell their students to buy the new edition? Why even create all that waste? The previous editions can be bought for literally $.99 cents on sites like half.com etc.

Also with today's technology there is no way college should cost $50k a year, especially for an undergrad degree. Most of the things you learn in school are useless in the real world. Everyone knows this. Why don't we do something about it?

  9. Like everything in our economic system, college education is not the exception.

Our economic system is based on bubbles, over valuations, casino stock markets, bets, excessive speculation and many more.

Education being one of the hardest assets ever will be abused in many ways. THIS DOES NOT MAKE COLLEGE EDUCATION USELSS.....JUST ABUSED!!!!!.

From textbooks, financial aid and student loans, exotic majors like MBA; we find college education attacked from all fronts. I found many classes direct & indirect to my major very weak in nature, too much theory away from the real world.

DISPITE ALL THESE LIFE IS MUCH BETTER WITH A COLLEGE DEGREE. JUST PLAY THE GAME AND GET YOURSELF A USEFUL DEGREE.

    NO EXCUSES CAN BE MADE.
    NO EXCUSES CAN BE MADE.

Yes everyone said get a degree, all i see is people with degrees but no job and no experience. I look around and i read economic news and i ask my self why would somebody spend thousands in one source of income. I got all my education from online and from experienced traders. I have a friend who was accepted into an ivy league school to learn investment banking. He told me he's gonna start learning what i already learned by his junior year in college. They don't even teach you in real time world news they teach you about things that happened years ago. I know Harvard students get taught problem solving in real world situations but my grades where way to low for Harvard. PLEASE SOMEBODY PROVE ME WRONG BECAUSE ALL I SEE IS THE TRUTH AND ITS TELLING ME TO GET EDUCATED BY THE BEST IN PERSON AND ONLINE. NOT FROM SOME TEACHER WHO HAS NO EXPERIENCE IN THE GAME.
