No doubt about it Austin. Trading 100-200 cars for 2 points a day is a fine living by any stretch of the imagination. No one is going to argue that. My mentor always said that size matters and there is no such thing as a professional who trades single digit cars. If you have the equity, go for it, but that is not what Joe retail is all about. You now seek 4 ES points/day. If you come back to this thread, please tell us how many cars you are trading.
According to his blotter for the ER2 experiment, he was trading one lots. But I believe in his daytrading account he has said that he trades from "5 lots to 20 lots". No idea myself, maybe one of his students can tell you. The ER2 experiment sounds like fun. Despite the fact that it didn't turn out as anticipated and he closed the "experiment" down, it still made things just a little bit interesting around here ... and that's always good.
I don't think he trades much at all anymore. He charges 500 a month for access to a chatroom and educational videos. 6K a year. Assuming he has twenty five clients, that's 150K a year, risk free. I have no problem with vendors as long as they sell a quality product, and he may well be selling a quality product (the price may be high, but that is up to the buyer). We're both intraday swing traders, looking to buy directional moves towards key spots on the charts--open gaps, pivot levels, etc. What makes me a little suspicious about the guy is that he keeps flip flopping. He complains that ET is a "bitchfest" and a place for "losers", and then he complains and attacks others, and keeps coming back (he may have other aliases--who knows, JJ?) First he is giving up the ER2 because it was too choppy, and then he goes back, and then quits because it is too spiky, and then he's back again. It's only a matter of time before he says that the ES backs and fills too much, so he is going to the NQ, or the ER2, or the Forex. On May 5 he launches an experiment here at ET, trading 1 ER with the hopes of getting to 20-40 contracts. Experiment ends after two weeks, not even close to 20 contracts. On one video he says that the NQ is directional, and is going to be trading that for a while, and then in days he's back with the Russell. On video after video he says how difficult/impossible it is to scalp, and then in a later video he shares a method of scalping the ES. He said on one of his videos last year that he was going to have to shut down because his new clients would be suspicious about him selling his methodology. He's still selling it. I thought he was going to start up his CTA in January, but who knows? On one of his videos he announced that he was going to enter the Robbins emini contest. Never heard about that again. Things that make you go hmmmm.
This is ominous news...this is very bad, very bad, austin...I always thought austinp was the real deal...I saw one particular video where it was showing he was making $7k on one trade. It looked like a ninjatrader real account because the dome was gray and not blue. Could that have been doctored?
This post just proves what you don't know. He charges 500.00. Not 500.00 per month. 500 total. Fineto. Done. I think his last promotion is that if he doesn't generate 1000.00 in ES trade calls in the first month or something you get your money back. Yet you guys still call him out for unfair marketing and trying to scam people? He offers a 100% performance based money back guarantee and thats not good enough for you? I haven't seen another vendor come close. As far as I know he did get his CTA license a couple months ago. He was absent a couple mornings from the CM room because he had to go into town to get fingerprinted at the sherifs office. Yes he flops around a lot on what he trades... thats just austin. One day one chart looks good so he trades that, the next he'll focus on a different market... who cares... trading is trading?
Dayum, but you do know a lot of information about him SS! Well, the only thing I can vouch for is that he has said he only uses austinp as his logon here, and I have no reason to disbelieve him, so I'll take him on his word for that one. And the only reason I have a different alias is because the Jimmy Jam alias, (and several different permutations of it, I might add) was banned because of excessive fighting (but they allow a thread like this one to go on, LOL ... OL some more) . *** There is always a conumdrum when dealing with the topic and concept of trading vendors, but truth to tell, I really don't care that much about what other people do with their time or their money anymore, my hands are full with my own business. Thanks for the information SS, more is definitely better, but this thread has gone a little beyond the usual cajoling, bickering and name calling that's par for the course in these parts ... I got the feeling that there was actual hatred being expressed here, and that's never a good thing. Maybe we can all meet up over in the PnL Thread and have a drink about it, eh? Good trading
It got pretty intense between him and PBT, and the dis-information about the guy is legendary in these parts (I know I wouldn't like someone telling lies about me that were half-truths) ... like saying "I worked at a night job at a convience store (which someone did say)" whereas actually the truth was "I worked during the evening and weekends at UBS" ... see, a horse of a very different color, that one. But like I said, lets all show our hands and let the chips fall where they will ... maybe we'll actually learn something from the experience. Good trading.
Hey, I'll step up to that...but let me be perfectly clear..... It is the image that AustinP as a vendor and the interactions I have had with him that lead me to not like "him". My opinions are only the sum of my experiences. That's true for all of us. But a very important distinction needs to be made as we are all big boys and girls here: I do not know him personally so while I may despise what he stands for as a vendor I can only make a logical conclusion about who he is as a person. This certainly doesn't mean that he IS that person I think he is.... It certainly doesn't mean I am right! Interactions in my world also include those wrongs done to personal friends of mine by vendors. It is part of my experience/reality. I'll leave this thread with the following: I encourage anyone to do extended research before sending money to any vendor. I would also encourage anyone to test ideas for themselves no matter if you pay for them or read about them on this or any forum. Find ideas that work for you and make them your own. This all seems quite logical to me. Don't get fooled by smoke and mirrors...dig deeper! Bruce
