It's an Ear prosthetic...easy to create in one day to look like the original ear. A good friend of mine in the Persian Gulf War had his ear blown off by friendly fire...he had an ear prosthetic one month later... He too had turned his head at the right micro-second or else the back of his head would have been blown off. The Ear prosthetic looked like nothing ever happened to him.
